Dr. Phil considers appeal after losing bankruptcy case over Christian network deal A federal judge ruled Tuesday that Dr. Phil cannot wipe out the debts of his now-defunct Merit Street Media through Chapter 11 bankruptcy, stemming from his multi-million-dollar deal with Trinity Broadcasting Network. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Scott Everett ordered that the proceedings be converted to a Chapter 7, with the company’s assets sold to repay creditors. Judge Everett criticized McGraw for a lack of transparency during the trial and noted erased communications and preferential payments to certain creditors. He described Merit Street Media as “as dead as a doornail” at the time the bankruptcy was filed, suggesting that McGraw had been using one business to fund another. The ruling follows a trial over the failed $500 million deal between Dr. Phil and TBN. Merit Street Media filed for Chapter 11 in July, while TBN countersued in August, accusing McGraw of misconduct and attempting to evade finan...

GOOGLE CHROME TO DEFAULT TO SECURE HTTPS CONNECTIONS BEGINNING IN APRIL . (PHOTO).

Image
Google Chrome to default to secure HTTPS connections beginning in April  Google is taking a major step to make web browsing safer by default. While the use of HTTPS—a more secure web protocol—has plateaued, with 95–99% of Chrome navigations already using it as of 2020, the company plans to enable a new setting called Always Use Secure Connections for all public websites by default. This change will roll out in October 2026 with Chrome 154. Users who already have Enhanced Safe Browsing turned on will see the feature earlier, starting in April with Chrome 147. Once activated, Chrome will request user permission before connecting to any public site that does not use HTTPS. Google has been gradually pushing this shift for years. Chrome first warned users about insecure HTTP websites in 2018, defaulted to HTTPS in April 2021, and began offering Always Use Secure Connections as an opt-in in 2022. The move aims to prevent attacks where hackers intercept or reroute connections to del...

Because of his frequent absences, White didn’t have enough credits to graduate. However, after inviting his former drama teacher, Greg Parente, to the New York Film Festival premiere of his latest film, “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” he received a surprise. Their support couldn’t change the outcome, as the Dodgers fell 6-2 to the Toronto Blue Jays, tying the series at two games apiece.

It said Obaseki was not interested in running for any senatorial elections having ruled the state for eight years. Former spokesman of the party and immediate past Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, said it was laughable for the incumbent administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo to accuse Obaseki of doing nothing. OYEBANJI: THE MAN WITH MAGIC WAND. (PHOTO).

Image
Oyebanji: The man with magic wand By Ifedayo Sayo Many times in Nigeria, elections are often seen as war that must be won at all cost. This accounted for thuggery and all forms of malpractices that accompanied elections in the country resulting in acrimonious legal tussles. But this is about to change with the coming governorship election in Ekiti State. This is not to say that there will not be competition but it is almost a settled election, as there is unanimity among the people that the incumbent, Biodun Oyebanji should be allowed to spend eight years at a stretch for the first time in the history of the state. Almost all the segments of the state, including opposition leaders who could have provided the most needed opposition are lined up behind the governor to help him realise his second term ambition. To these political gladiators the incumbent governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has lived up to expectation, particularly in the area of infrastructural development, prudent ma...

KOTEX TAMPONS FACE LAWSUIT OVER ALLEGED LEAD CONTAMINATION. (PHOTO).

Image
Kotex tampons face lawsuit over alleged lead contamination A proposed class action lawsuit filed in federal court in Illinois accuses Kimberly-Clark of selling “U by Kotex Click” tampons containing undisclosed levels of lead. According to the complaint, lab testing found that some tampons exceeded California’s Proposition 65 limit for reproductive toxicity of 0.5 micrograms per day, with certain sizes measuring between 0.437 and 0.560 micrograms per tampon. The plaintiffs argue that because tampons are used vaginally, the lead could enter the bloodstream directly, raising particular health concerns. The lawsuit seeks to represent U.S. consumers outside California who purchased the tampons, claiming economic injury from the product’s diminished value due to the alleged contamination. Research from the University of California, Berkeley, cited in the suit, found that all 30 tampons tested across 14 brands contained lead or other metals, though regulators note there is no definitive evide...

ISRAEL LAUNCHES STRIKES ON GAZA, CITING HAMAS BREACH OF US-BROKERED CEASEFIRE. (PHOTO).

Israel launches strikes on Gaza, citing Hamas breach of US-brokered ceasefire Israeli warplanes struck targets across Gaza on Tuesday after Israel accused Hamas of violating a ceasefire, marking the latest test of a U.S.-brokered agreement that took effect earlier this month. Local health officials reported at least 26 people killed, including five in a home in the Bureij refugee camp, four in a building in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood, and five in a vehicle in Khan Younis. The airstrikes continued into early Wednesday, witnesses said. Israeli authorities said the strikes were in response to Hamas attacks against Israeli forces in areas under Israeli control, calling the actions a “blatant violation of the ceasefire.” The deal, mediated by U.S. President Donald Trump and enacted on October 10, ended two years of fighting triggered by a Hamas-led assault on Israel on October 7, 2023.  White House removes arts commissioners tied to ballroom and arch projects The White House on Tuesday dismissed all members of the Commission of Fine Arts, the federal body that advises on architecture and public space projects in Washington, D.C. A White House official said the move is intended to bring in a new set of commissioners “more aligned with President Trump’s America First policies.” The shake-up comes as Trump advances plans for a White House ballroom, which required the demolition of the East Wing, and discusses building an arch near the District’s entrance across from Arlington National Cemetery.  Teen undergoes surgery after swallowing more than 80 magnets A teenage boy in New Zealand required emergency surgery and had part of his bowel removed after swallowing more than 80 high-powered magnets, according to a recent case report in the New Zealand Medical Journal. After enduring four days of severe abdominal pain, he sought medical attention. Scans revealed four chains of magnets inside his abdomen, binding portions of the bowel together. Surgeons performed an emergency operation to remove both the magnets and the damaged tissue. The teen spent eight days in the hospital recovering before being discharged. Although New Zealand and Australia have banned the sale of high-powered magnets, experts say they remain easily accessible online, oft...
