 Osun Residents Protest as Newly Tarred Road Washes Away After Rainfall Residents of Aduragbemi in Ido-Osun, Osun State, protested Friday after a newly tarred road was washed away less than 24 hours after completion. They accused the contractor of using substandard materials and demanded government intervention. Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson confirmed the contractor has been queried and a statement from the Ministry of Works is expected.

 Woman Bites Off Lover’s Manhood in Rivers, Arrested by Police A 43-year-old woman, identified as Gift, has been arrested by the Rivers State Police for allegedly biting off her lover’s manhood during a sex-related dispute in Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt. The altercation reportedly began when her partner, Sunday, requested sex. Gift refused, accusing him of using sex-enhancing drugs. A scuffle ensued, during which she allegedly bit off the tip of his penis. Police intervened and arrested the suspect, while the victim was rushed to the hospital. Command spokesperson SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident and said an investigation is ongoing.

 Suspect Arrested in Cash-in-Transit Robbery Nyameko Samela (40) has been arrested in connection with a cash-in-transit robbery and attempted murder. He was already in custody for other unrelated matters when the arrest was made. The charges relate to a robbery that took place in January 2025 at Food Lovers Market in Somerset West. A G4S cash vehicle was collecting money when armed suspects attacked. One of the guards was shot while running back to the vehicle. The suspects fled with two bags of cash estimated at R331,000. Following an investigation, police identified Samela as a suspect and linked him to the crime. He appeared in the Somerset West Magistrates Court on 15 May 2025. The case has been postponed to 3 July 2025, and he remains in custody.

 Stolen Vehicle En Route to Zimbabwe Intercepted by Police Members of the Provincial Anti-Smuggling Team successfully intercepted a suspected stolen vehicle near the Limpopo River on Thursday morning, dealing a blow to cross-border smuggling syndicates. Acting on intelligence, police tracked a white Toyota Cross SUV travelling along Malale's Drift, believed to be heading towards an illegal crossing into Zimbabwe. At around 06:00, officers spotted the vehicle hidden in the bushes near the riverbank. When police attempted to stop it, the vehicle sped off but became stuck in the sand. Two male suspects quickly fled on foot across the border into Zimbabwe, evading arrest. A preliminary investigation revealed that the SUV belongs to a private company in South Africa, although it had not yet been officially reported stolen. The vehicle was impounded at the scene, and investigations are ongoing. More photos below.

 NANS President Files N38.3bn Lawsuit Against Seyi Tinubu, DSS, and NTA Over Alleged Abduction and Torture   Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah, President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking to enforce his fundamental human rights. Isah is demanding N38.3 billion in damages, citing allegations of abduction and torture.  The suit names Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, the Department of State Services (DSS), and senior officials of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as respondents.  The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/966/2025, was filed on May 14, 2025, amid ongoing controversy surrounding Isah’s detention and treatment. Further details on the court proceedings are awaited.

 Cameroon's football legend Emmanuel Kunde, 1990 World Cup team star, dies Emmanuel Kunde, who was a mainstay of the 1990 Cameroon side that became the first African team to reach the World Cup quarter-finals, has died, the country’s football federation said on Friday, Reuters reported. Kunde, 68, also played at the 1982 World Cup in Spain, where Cameroon made their debut appearance, and was in the winning team when the Indomitable Lions won the Africa Cup of Nations in both 1984 and 1988. He took the penalty that decided the 1988 Cup of Nations final against Nigeria in Casablanca and also scored from the spot in the dramatic 3-2 loss to England in Naples in the last eight of the 1990 World Cup. “His death constitutes a huge loss for Cameroonian football,” said a federation statement.

 Kwara Court Jails Tailor for Impersonating, Defrauding EFCC Investigator   Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, has sentenced a 27-year-old fashion designer, Haruna Musa Tolani, to 12 months imprisonment for impersonating and defrauding  Callitus Egwuonwu, an investigating officer with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ilorin Zonal Directorate.    Tolani, an indigene of Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State, was initially arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on impersonation and cybercrime on January 28, 2025 and pleaded not guilty, but later changed his plea to guilty after overwhelming evidence was presented by counsel to the EFCC, Sesan Ola.
