 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State. John Lodge has died, aged 82. The Moody Blues singer's death was announced by his family in a statement which shared that John had been "suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us." "John peacefully slipped away surrounded by his loved ones and the sounds of The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly," the statement added.  Nigerian Army Launches Probe into Death of Lieutenant Samson Haruna in Uyo Fire Incident The Nigerian Army’s 2 Brigade Headquarters in Akwa Ibom State has initiated an investigation into the tragic death of Lieutenant Samson Haruna, who succumbed to injuries from a fire incident on September 22, 2025, at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH). In a statement released on Friday, October 10, 2025, Captain Lawal Muhammad, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 2 Brigade, confirmed that a probe was launched immediately after the incident to determine its circumstances. “The outcome of the investigation will be made public upon its conclusion,” Muhammad assured. The statement detailed that Lieutenant Haruna and his wife were involved in a fire incident on September 22, resulting in severe burns to the officer. He was promptly evacuated to UUTH, where he received comprehensive medical treatment. Despite the medical team’s efforts, Haruna passed away on October 6, 2025. ...

 Senate gives executive two weeks to present budget performance report The Senate has issued a two-week ultimatum to the executive to submit a comprehensive, documented progress report on the implementation of the 2024 budget, as well as projections for the 2025 budget, before it will entertain the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Sen. Sani Musa, gave the declaration during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu’s economic team, led by Minister of finance and Coordinating Minister of the economy, Wale Edun, at the National Assembly. Senator Musa noted that the legislature requires detailed performance data to properly assess the assumptions and projections in the proposed MTEF and Fiscal Strategy Paper. “We cannot proceed with the MTEF without first understanding how the 2024 budget has performed so far. We give you till October 23 to revert and provide a documented report before we look at the 2026 MTEF”.

Members of Agunechemba, led by commander senem, stormed Isseke community to restore peace, law and order. The commander adviced youths who are still hiding in the bushes with arms to surrender their arms willingly, stating that if they don't and he finds them out by himself, it will be disastrous for them. In a public announcement released by the Ministry of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), affected businesses along School/Clifford Road, Hospital Road, Jubilee Road, and Azikiwe Road in Aba North, Aba South, and Obingwa Local Government Areas have until October 15, 2025, to complete their relocation.  More Luxury Vehicles to Be Seized as SIU Exposes Tembisa Hospital Looters’ Tactics The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has uncovered a sophisticated scheme used by a syndicate involved in the R2.3 billion Tembisa Hospital procurement scandal. Investigators revealed that luxury vehicles were bought and intentionally left at dealerships, allowing members to use them whenever needed while keeping them hidden from authorities. SIU Head, Advocate Andy Mothibi, explained that this method helped suspects conceal assets while still enjoying their benefits. “The modus operandi these people use is that they would purchase vehicles and leave them at dealerships to use as and when needed. Our investigators were able to uncover this,” he said. The SIU has traced several assets and funds linked to the case, including money stored in trust and bank accounts. She landed at the Doha Hamad International Airport Thursday evening to begin a four-day working visit to the country on the invitation of the Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Missned The visit is part of a mission the First Lady is undertaking to advance the cause of Out-of-school children and reform Almajiri Education system in Nigeria. During her visit, she will engage with the Qatar Foundation Chair, as well as Minister of Social Development, Buthaina Al Nuaimi, among other key stakeholders in Qatar.  A small town California Police Department escorted the children of a fallen officer to their first day back to school after losing their father. Ray Barrantes (an officer with the Chowchilla PD) lost his life on Friday, October 3rd. Ray's cruiser was struck by a truck as it turned onto the highway. Life-saving measures were attempted, but sadly, Ray was pronounced deceased on scene.  Ray Barrantes is the first officer to lose his life in the line of duty from the Chowchilla P.D. Now the department has made an unbelievably kind gesture and show of support for one of their own.  Monday morning was the first day back to school for Ray's three children. The Chowchilla Police Department knew this would be a tough day for Ray's family. The department decided to do something to hopefully brighten the family's day and remind them they have an entire family in blue who support them.
