 LASG GIVES FINAL WARNING TO ESTATE DEVELOPMENTS OVER LAYOUT PLAN The Lagos State Government has issued a final warning to estate developments operating in the state without approved layout plans.  The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, who led an on-the-spot warning and sensitisation exercise across parts of the Eti-Osa corridor on Tuesday, said that the final warning was a sequel to the expiration of the grace period earlier granted to all flagged estates to regularise their planning documents. He said that the State Government had repeatedly emphasised the need for all estate promoters to obtain proper approvals before engaging in land subdivision, sales, or construction.  He explained that the affected estates had continued to operate in violation of planning regulations despite earlier notices, while stressing that the government would no longer tolerate developments that compromise orderly and sustainable urban growth. The Senate confirmed Musa on Wednesday via a voice vote after a rigorous screening session in which lawmakers asked him many questions. Musa, who retired barely 40 days ago, was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as the Defence Minister on Tuesday. His nomination was transmitted to the Senate the same day for confirmation.

Before her untimely death, Diana worked with the Office of the Deputy President and has been commended by many as a diligent officer. SECONDARY SCHOOL COMPLEX IN GBOKO 3rd December, 2025  A tense scene unfolded in Gboko, Benue State, on Wednesday morning as an angry mob set two suspected robbers ablaze near the Government Secondary School Shopping Complex. Eyewitnesses say the suspects were caught after allegedly attempting to rob commuters in the busy area. Before security operatives could arrive, residents took matters into their own hands, resulting in a fatal case of jungle justice. Former Los Angeles Laker and NBA champion Elden Campbell dies at 57 Elden Campbell, a former Los Angeles Lakers center and key player during the 1990s, has died at the age of 57. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Standing 6-foot-11, Campbell spent 15 seasons in the NBA, with the majority of his career in Los Angeles after being drafted by the Lakers in the first round of the 1990 draft. During his time in L.A., he played alongside legends Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant and became a dependable contributor, averaging nearly 15 points per game in the 1996-97 season. Campbell was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in 1999, where he continued to put up strong numbers. Later in his career, he won an NBA championship with the Detroit Pistons in 2004, ironically defeating his former team, the Lakers, in the Finals. He also played for the New Orleans Hornets, Seattle SuperSonics, and New Jersey Nets before retiring from professional basketball.

Doctor facing sentencing for giving ketamine to Matthew Perry  A doctor who admitted to supplying ketamine to the late Friends star Matthew Perry is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday in Los Angeles. Dr. Salvador Plasencia is one of five individuals convicted in connection with Perry’s 2023 death from a ketamine overdose. The 54-year-old actor was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his Pacific Palisades home and could not be revived. An autopsy confirmed that Perry died from an overdose of the drug, which he initially used to manage depression and anxiety, but had escalated to injecting six to eight times per day in the weeks before his death. Plasencia pleaded guilty in June to four counts of distributing ketamine and is the first of the five people involved to face sentencing. He could receive up to 10 years in federal prison for each count at an 11 a.m. PST hearing in federal court. The petition, submitted Tuesday, claims Carranza was killed in the Caribbean on Sept. 15. According to the filing, Carranza’s lawyer, Dan Kovalik, stated the family “has no recourse to adequate and effective remedies in Colombia to obtain redress for the injuries they have suffered due to the actions of the United States.” The petition also accused U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth of ordering the strike despite not knowing the identities of those on the targeted boats.  The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has warned the public that six University of Ghana (UG) learning centres are operating without accreditation, and has urged students and parents to verify the status of institutions before seeking admission. In a public notice, GTEC said that it “hereby brings to the notice of the public that the following Learning Centres currently operated by the University of Ghana (UG) have not been accredited by the Commission”.  The affected centres are in Koforidua, Cape Coast, Tamale, Ho/Tsito, Wa, and Sunyani. “All academic qualifications issued by the University at these centres are not recognised by GTEC for the purposes of employment, further education, and promotion", it said. GTEC also announced that eleven other tertiary institutions have been directed to suspend all fresh admissions with immediate effect until they meet the accreditation standards required by the Commission. No fewer than 2,000 indigent people from Urunnevo Ozom Community in Enugwu-Ukwu, in the Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, have benefited from a medical outreach sponsored by an indigene, Dr Charles Ajaegbu, in collaboration with Urunnevo Improvement Union.  CBN Raises Cash Withdrawal Limits, Scraps Deposit Caps in Major Policy Shift The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced a significant relaxation of its cash withdrawal and deposit regulations, effective January 1, 2026, in a move aimed at improving liquidity and easing the burden on businesses and individuals amid prevailing economic challenges. In a circular signed by Dr. Rita I. Sike, Director of the Financial Policy and Regulation Department, the apex bank raised the weekly cash withdrawal limit for individuals from ₦100,000 to ₦500,000 across all channels, including ATMs, Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals, and over-the-counter transactions. Corporate entities will now enjoy a higher weekly limit of ₦5 million, up from the previous ₦500,000. At the same time, all restrictions and processing fees on cash deposits have been completely removed, allowing unrestricted deposits without penalties.  FG commends Saudi authorities for releasing 3 Nigerians detained over fraudulent luggage Three Nigerians who were arrested in August 2025 at King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah have been released from detention by Saudi Authorities over luggage linked to criminal syndicates. The Nigerians were: Abdulhamid Sadieq, Maryam Abdullahi, and Bahijah Abdullahi. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar in a statement, explained that prohibited substances were fraudulently attached to their air tickets by criminal syndicates at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), without the knowledge of the passengers.
