MORE THAN 100,000 CHILDREN HAVE BEEN DISPLACED BY THE LATEST ESCALATION IN EASTERN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, UNICEF SAID ON SUNDAY, WARNING THE NUMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO RISE AS VIOLENCE SPREADS.(PHOTO).
Armed bandits invaded a hospital in Kaduna State early Tuesday, abducting a medical doctor, five patients, and a security guard, according to a report by Sahara Reporters.
Local sources said the attackers stormed Kujama town, the headquarters of Chikun Local Government Area, and proceeded directly to the Nasara Nursing and Maternity Home, a private medical facility.
Witnesses reported that the assailants, who arrived in large numbers, also raided nearby houses during the attack. One security guard who attempted to resist was shot multiple times and later rushed to another hospital for treatment.
The abduction occurred just days after other violent incidents across Kaduna State. Last Friday, two police officers were killed when bandits attacked the Divisional Police Headquarters in Zonkwa, the headquarters of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
