 Global football icon Lionel Messi departed Jamnagar on Tuesday after a brief but high profile visit to Vantara, the wildlife rescue and conservation centre hosted by Anant Ambani. The visit formed part of Messi’s ongoing India tour, which has drawn massive public and media attention across the country.


Visuals shared by news agency ANI showed Messi travelling in a tight security convoy from Jamnagar Airport along with fellow Argentine footballers Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul. The departure took place amid heightened security arrangements, reflecting the scale of interest surrounding the legendary footballer’s presence in Gujarat.


During their stop in Jamnagar, Anant Ambani hosted the football stars at Vantara, which has gained international recognition for its work in animal welfare, conservation, and rehabilitation. The centre has previously welcomed several global dignitaries and continues to position itself as a landmark initiative in wildlife preservation.


Messi’s Jamnagar visit followed a major public appearance in New Delhi, where he attended an event at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. There, he met ICC Chairman Jay Shah, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and DDCA President Rohan Jaitley. As part of the interaction, Messi and his teammates were presented with Indian cricket jerseys bearing their iconic numbers.


Earlier legs of Messi’s India tour included visits to Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. While the tour generated widespread excitement nationwide, the Kolkata event saw tense moments after fans expressed disappointment over his early departure from the venue. Despite mixed scenes, Messi’s visit to India has remained a landmark cultural and sporting moment, capturing the imagination of fans across the country.
