BRONX, NEW YORK- A 4-YEAR-OLD GIRL WAS FOUND LIVING WITH THE DECEASED BODIES OF HER MOTHER AND BROTHER, POSSIBLY FOR WEEKS BEFORE BEING DISCOVERED.(PHOTO).

Bronx, New York- A 4-year-old girl was found living with the deceased bodies of her mother and brother, possibly for weeks before being discovered.

This disturbing incident culminated with a welfare check by the deceased woman's oldest child on Friday, April 18th, however police had visited the home for a welfare check on Tuesday.

The welfare check had come after an anonymous call was made to authorities. After knocking on the door and not receiving an answer police were forced to leave without gaining entry.

When they spoke to neighbors they learned no one had seen 38-year-old Lisa Cotton or her children in weeks. Some residents reported they had gone to the building manager requesting a welfare check "due to a strong odor", but their concerns were brushed aside.

Finally, on Friday Lisa's father received a call from Lisa's landlord. The landlord was asking if Lisa had moved out, due to the neighbors reports of no activity and police receiving no answer when knocking.

Lisa's father sent her oldest daughter to the apartment to check in on Lisa and the children.  What she found is just as shocking as it is heartbreaking.

When first gaining entry the young woman encountered 1-year-old Nazir Millien slumped over in his high chair and seemingly deceased. As she ventured further into the apartment in search of her mother, she discovered 4-year-old, Promise, on her mother's bed covered in chocolate.

Authorities believe the child had been subsisting on the chocolate possibly for days or weeks.

The young woman grabbed Promise and ran out of the apartment before making a frantic 911 call in which she described seeing bugs crawling on her mother.

Officials believe Lisa passed away from natural causes leaving her 1-year-old son who required a feeding tube to sadly starve to death.

Promise was taken to an area hospital before being released to  Lisa's father. The father was asked how the child was recovering after such a horrific event, he stated, "She hasn't said anything. She's a baby. She looks at me sometimes, you know? Like she knows something."

Our thoughts are with little Promise and all of her family as they struggle to cope with such a tragic ordeal.
