 NSIB CONFIRMS CESSNA 172 ACCIDENT AT SAM  MBAKWE INTERNATIONAL CARGO AIRPORT, OWERRI SAYS INVESTIGATION ONGOING The Nigerian safety investigation bureau (NSIB) has launched a full investigation into an accident involving a cessna 172 belonging to skypower express which occurred at approximately 20:00 local time on Monday 16 december 2025, at Sam Mbakwe international cargo airport, Owerri, Imo state.  The aircraft was en‑route from Kaduna international airport to Port harcort when the crew declared an emergency and diverted to Owerri.  During the approach to runway 17, the aircraft crashed in the approach area.  Four occupants were on board. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.  Airport emergency services were promptly activated, arrived on scene, and secured the area.  There was no post‑crash fire and the runway remained operational, allowing other flights to continue safely.  NSIB assured to keep the public informed as new information ...

 Trump adds five African countries to expanded full travel ban list US President Donald Trump expanded a list of countries subject to a full travel ban, prohibiting citizens from an additional seven countries from entering the United States. The White House said in a statement on Tuesday that Trump signed a proclamation "expanding and strengthening entry restrictions on nationals from countries with demonstrated, persistent, and severe deficiencies in screening, vetting, and information-sharing to protect the Nation from national security and public safety threats." Tuesday's move banned citizens from Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, Syria and those holding Palestinian Authority-issued travel documents. The action also imposes a full ban on Laos and Sierra Leone, which had previously only been subject to partial restrictions. The White House said the expanded ban goes into effect on January 1. President Tinubu meets Labour leaders over proposed protest: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with the leadership of the NLC, along with the chairman of Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma,  Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo and Governor of Kebbi State, Dr Nasir Idris and the Minister of State Labour, Honorable Nkeiruka Onyejeocha. The chairman of the NLC,Comrade Joe Ajaero led the Labour leaders to the meeting on Tuesday night at the State House, Abuja. AIRCRAFT CRASHES IN OWERRI AIRPORT WITH FOUR PERSONS ONBOARD. (PHOTOS).

 Aircraft crashes in Owerri airport with four persons onboard A Cessna 172 aircraft with registration number 5N-ASR, operated by Skypower Express, crashed at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, Imo state on Tuesday evening, December 16. The aircraft with four passengers and crew members onboard, had departed Kaduna International Airport en route to Port Harcourt International Airport before diverting to Owerri after the crew declared an emergency. Confirming the incident, the Director, Public Affairs and Family Assistance of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, said the agency had been notified of the crash. According to the NSIB, the aircraft crashed on the approach area of Runway 17, but no fatalities have been recorded so far. Also confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Airport Command, Lagos, ASP Mohammed Adeola, said the aircraft sustained varying degrees of damage.
