 BENUE: TRAGEDY IN GWER EAST, MISSING WOMAN'S BODY RECOVERED FROM RIVER, POLICE LAUNCH PROBE 20th December, 2025   The police in Benue State have commenced investigation into the death of a woman, Miss Usange Janet, whose body was recovered from River Agbuu in Gwer East Local Government Area. The deceased was reported missing on Dec. 11 after she left home for farm work in Mbabur community, where she was living with her elder sister and brother-in-law. Residents told Benue Info-pedia that efforts to locate her after she failed to return led to the discovery of her slippers, a wheelbarrow and farm tools at the farm site, raising concerns about her safety. Her body was later found in the river on Sunday by a local resident, who alerted members of the community. The incident has reportedly triggered tension in the area, following allegations surrounding the circumstances of her death. YULETIDE SECURITY: ENUGU COMMAND PUBLISHES UPDATED TELEPHONE NUMBERS OF AREA COMMANDERS AND DIVISIONAL POLICE OFFICERS (DPOs), AS CP GIWA URGES PROMPT REPORTING OF SECURITY SITUATIONS


In furtherance of its unwavering commitment to strengthening security and ensuring swift response to crimes and other security situations, the Enugu State Police Command has made available to residents of the State and the general public the updated telephone numbers of all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the Command.


The names and mobile phone contacts of the Area Commanders and DPOs, as contained in the attached flyer, are provided to enhance accessibility, facilitate prompt reporting, and ensure rapid police response to crimes and security-related concerns across Enugu State this festive season and beyond.


The Command also encourages citizens to utilise its Control Room emergency hotlines: 08032003702 and 08086671202, as well as the Enugu State Command-and-Control Centre numbers: 112, 09134666668, and 09134448093, for timely security reports and emergencies.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, urges residents of Enugu State, visitors, travellers, and the general public to make effective use of the available contacts and promptly report security concerns or credible information to the nearest Area Commander or Divisional Police Officer. He reiterates the Command’s firm commitment to safeguarding lives and property during the yuletide period and beyond, calling on citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of the Police.
