Imo Governor Issues 72-Hour Ultimatum to Remove Tints from Commercial Vehicles
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has given commercial drivers operating vehicles with tinted glasses a 72-hour ultimatum to remove them or face severe legal consequences, according to a press release issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media, Oguwike Nwachukwu.
The directive, announced on Wednesday, aims to curb the rising use of tinted commercial vehicles, particularly buses, in criminal activities such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and hit-and-run incidents across the state. Nwachukwu stated that intelligence reports linked these vehicles to the surge in such crimes, prompting the governor’s order.
Governor Uzodinma has instructed law enforcement agencies to work with government officials to enforce the directive, clamping down on non-compliant drivers once the deadline expires. “All bus drivers operating with tinted glasses have 72 hours to remove them or face the full weight of the law,” the statement read.
The press release emphasized that security agencies have been tasked with ensuring strict compliance to address the growing crime wave. Defaulters caught after the ultimatum will face prosecution to deter others from disregarding the order.
