PSSDC MAGODO CONDUCTS CERTIFICATE COURSE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

Image may contain: 2 people                Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre, PSSDC, Magodo in conjunction with the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas, has initiated a 9-month Certificate Course in Local Government Administration for stagnated officers on grade level 07 who are desirous of advancing their civil service career.
The training, which had commenced earlier this year, will grant successful participants the privilege of ascending to the next Grade Level in their chosen discipline.
The Acting Director-General of PSSDC, Mr. Olufunmi Ajose-Harrison said that the State government decided to come up with the training programme as an alternative way of assisting non-university graduate officers at the local government level to ascend beyond the statutory Grade Level provided in the Civil Service Scheme.
He added that the training, apart from eliminating career stagnation, also seeks to equip participants with necessary administrative capabilities that would assist them in discharging their duties meritoriously.
According to him, findings by the Centre revealed that the affected officers if given the needed impetus and platform to exhibit their skills through necessary training are also capable of complementing the vision of the State government for citizens at the grass roots.
He informed that the fear of career stagnation which usually bedeviled this category of officers had in the past contributed to their non-impressive performance at their various duty posts, assuring them that with the opportunity provided by the training, Lagosians would be assured of better service delivery in all the Local Government Areas.
“The fear of stagnation as a result of non-availability of training opportunities was discovered to be a major impediment to your productivity. That fear is no longer your lot because you are participants in this course. You have the opportunity to break the yoke posed by stagnation because this training exercise provides an appropriate foundation for you to build on,” the Acting Director-General stated.
He explained that the Certificate issued after the training would be acceptable for admission into Diploma Programme in Local Government Administration and Development Studies at the Lagos State University (LASU), since the Certificate course is a collaboration between PSSDC, Magodo and the Lagos State University, LASU.
