Panic was averted at the United Evangelical Church, Ehere/Umuola, Ogbor Hill, Aba, Abia State, after a suspected bomb was discovered within the church premises, an incident that could have claimed over 100 lives. Eyewitnesses stated that church members were digging around the parsonage to erect a new fence, following ongoing road expansion by the state government, when they unearthed a large metal object buried underground.  Unaware of its nature, one of the workers reportedly moved the object close to a nearby borehole before the resident priest suspected it could be an explosive device and immediately warned everyone to stay away. The priest promptly alerted a military unit in Aba, leading to the deployment of soldiers who evacuated the object from the premises.  BENUE DECLARES LASSA FEVER OUTBREAK AS SUSPECTED CASES RISE TO 56, 3 DEAD  Benue State has officially declared an outbreak of Lassa fever following a rise in suspected cases across the state. The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Paul Ogwuche, announced the development on Tuesday in Makurdi, saying that 56 suspected cases of the disease have so far been recorded. According to him, eight cases have been laboratory confirmed, with three deaths recorded among confirmed patients, while one additional probable death is currently under investigation. Dr Ogwuche described the situation as a major public health concern, noting the high case fatality rate among confirmed cases. He disclosed that the outbreak has also affected frontline health workers, revealing that four healthcare professionals three nurses and one community health worker, have been infected in the course of their duties.  KOGI GOVT ORDERS IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF ALL SCHOOLS IN YAGBA WEST  3rd February, 2026     The Kogi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all public and private schools in Yagba West Local Government Area. The directive, which takes effect from Wednesday, February 4, 2026, was issued through an Executive Order from the Governor’s Office and communicated by the state Ministry of Education. According to the order, all affected schools are to remain shut until further notice. The government also issued a stern warning to private school operators, stressing that any school found violating the directive will be sealed without delay. The development was confirmed by the Yagba West Education Secretary, Mr. Ogunjobi J. Michael, who urged school administrators to comply fully with the directive. No reason was immediately given for the closure.

 FIRE DESTROYS HOMES IN HIGH-LEVEL MAKURDI, BENUE, LEAVES FAMILIES HOMELESS  3rd February, 2026    Earlier today, a fire swept through homes at 13th Avenue, Iorkyaa Ako Street, High-Level Mkd in Benue State, leaving several families homeless. The cause of the blaze is yet unknown. Neighbours say there was no cooking or electricity at the time the fire broke out. A mother of three lost her room completely, while a husband and wife living next door also had their home destroyed, losing all their belongings. The victims are now without shelter or basic necessities. Authorities and members of the public are urged to step in. Temporary accommodation or any form of assistance will provide much-needed relief to the affected families. The fire has left the people in shock, highlighting the urgent need for support and intervention.

 SUSPECTED ONLINE CAR DEALER ARRESTED IN ADIKPO OVER N7.8 MILLION FRAUD  3rd February, 2026     Operatives of the Benue State Police Command have arrested a man, Andrew Agema Akaanan, also known online as Wave Agm, over allegations of defrauding a woman of N7.8 million in a fake car sale. The victim reportedly contacted Agema via Facebook to buy a 2012 Toyota Corolla. Trusting him as a legitimate car dealer, she transferred the full amount to his account. Agema later claimed he had travelled to Minna to procure the vehicle, but two days after the payment, he became unreachable. A Facebook user D’nkaked Elder Sughnen intervened, contacting the suspect to either deliver the car or return the money. When the suspect refused, the matter was formally reported to the Benue State Police Command. Police tracking led to Agema’s arrest in Adikpo. Legendary gospel singer and song writer Ron Kenoly is dead.  He died this morning at the age of 81 according to his music director Bruno Miranda. I grew up listening to his high energy praise and worship songs. I'm still shaken by the news of his death. Rest in Power great worship leader. One more photo below.

 Haitians secure temporary halt to Trump's plan ending their protected status A federal judge ruled Monday evening that more than 500,000 Haitian refugees living in the U.S. under Temporary Protected Status (TPS) can remain in the country and continue working. The decision also preserves protections for those with pending TPS applications, shielding them from deportation and allowing them to maintain work authorization. TPS provides temporary refuge for people fleeing crisis, and Haitian immigrants were set to lose their status Tuesday despite ongoing violence and instability in their home country. Haitians have been repeatedly granted TPS since the program was first extended following the 2010 earthquake, which killed more than 220,000 people. Recent reports cite that gangs now control much of Haiti’s capital and that the country saw over 5,600 killings in 2024 alone.  Community members confront elderly man and younger man after they were filmed getting intimate.  A video of the elderly man k!ssing the younger man on the mouth was seen by community members and they confronted them. The elderly man is seen denying that anything occurred between them. The younger man, who seemed really afraid, was questioned afterwards by men holding cane. They threatened to flog him if he didn't speak the truth. Speaking, the younger man said he was at work, where he's learning a skill, and the elder man called him on the phone that he wanted to see him. He said he went to the man's house and claimed it was his first time of ever meeting the man. He said the man gave him rice and yam.  Those questioning him asked the younger man what he did with the older man, and he replied, "he and I did h0mo." He was asked to repeat it.
