 At least 18 passengers have d!ed following a head-on collision between two commercial vehicles along the Dutsinma–Karofi–Radda Road in Katsina State. The accident occurred at about 8:00p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026 when two Golf commercial vehicles, traveling from opposite directions, lost control and collided.  According to the sources, one of the vehicles was conveying wedding guests from Dutsinma, while the other was coming from Kano with passengers.  The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire, resulting in three passengers being severely burnt.  The deceased were taken to General Hospital, Dutsinma.  Some of the victims have been identified as a groom, his bride and their friends.  Onitsha traders reopen shops following Soludo threats Traders at the Onitsha Main Market have resumed business after a one-week shutdown, following directives from Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo. The reopening comes amid heightened security measures and warnings against compliance with non-state actors, Indigenous People of Biafra sit-at-home orders. The market was previously ordered closed by Soludo after reports suggested that some traders were following a Monday sit-at-home call issued by IPOB. More photos below.

It costs as much as N250, 000- Gombe snakebite hospital MD says The Medical Director of the Snakebite Hospital and Research Centre in Kaltungo, Gombe State, Dr Nicholas Amani, says anti-snake venom is not only a scarce commodity in Nigeria but also in many parts of the world. Amani stated this during an interview with Punch while reacting to the untimely de@th of aspiring singer, Ifunanya Nwangene, who reportedly d!ed after a snake bite in her Abuja apartment. She reportedly passed away after two hospitals she was rushed to after the bite turned her back over the unavailability of anti-snake venom.
