 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. GOV. SANWO-OLU APPROVES REHABILITATION OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS.#PRESS RELEASE.

     In fulfilment of his inaugural promise to invest in the education of the children and young adults, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the rehabilitation of 60 public schools across the State.
The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo disclosed this during an interactive session at Ministry, noting that the bold vision of the Governor will herald a new vista that repositions the Education Sector in the State.
In her words, “These Schools, 10 from each of the six Education Districts, are part of the efforts and impact-driven activities in kick-starting transformation in the Education Sector aimed at improving standard and quality of education as well as education management in Lagos State”.
The Commissioner stressed that the commencement of rehabilitation may not take-off until all due processes, including procurement, are fully completed and strictly adhered to by all parties involved.
According to her, this administration has resolved to introduce measures aimed at addressing three broad critical issues affecting education in the State - the need to upgrade the teaching profession, the curriculum, and school infrastructure, adding that Government will ensure all Public Schools in Lagos are made number one nationally and are able to compete globally with much-needed skills, while preparing for the jobs of tomorrow.
In aligning the school curriculum with 21st century realities, the Commissioner hinted on leveraging technology platforms to teach, assess, test and reinforce learning in conjunction with the Private Sector and development partners, while ensuring collaboration with Industry, Federal Government and Academia in updating the school’s curriculum to reflect current and future industry needs that will positively influence and reshape the present educational system in the State.
She enthused that the Government is desirous of promoting knowledge transfer and co-creating workable and functional models for taking education sector in Lagos to an admirable height, reiterating plans by the State Government to recruit qualified teachers for public schools.
