Educationalist solicits affluents support to making epitome of education system

The Principal, Community Secondary School (CSS), Nkpologwu, Mrs Fidelia Okoli advocates support of affluent Ndi Anambra to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo's education policies to making Anambra State education system stand tall among equals.

She made the call in an interface with information officers, on parameter fence built by an individual, in her office, at Community Secondary School, Nkpologwu, Aguata LGA, on October 10.

Mrs Okoli said, "the man behind the parameter fence you are seeing is Nze O.G Chuma, Nnewi based Business Mogul, a native of Akpo.

"His passion for education is second to none. If we can have 10 of his likes in Anambra State, the state will turn into education tourist hub.

"Affluents in other parts of the country will no longer send their children abroad for education but to Anambra State.

"When I came to the school on Jan. 13, 2023 the number of students in JSS 1 was about 13, while students population of the school was 75.

"As I am talking with you now, JSS1 has over 56 students and population of students in the school is over 200, many more are coming".

According to her, the parameter fence has assured parents that the environment is secured, teachers are doing their work without fear of molestation. Truancy, lateness and absenteeism among students are checked.

"We cannot thank O.G Chuma enough. He has made our working environment conducive. I wish other affluents will follow suite."

Mrs Okoli, however, regretted that CSS Nkpologwu do not have modern convenience. Community schools accommodate male and female.

"You can imagine a young girl under mensuration amid young boys without a modern convenience.

"The shame of possible stain can stop her from coming to school. We need modern convenience here, among other needs.

"If we wait for government to do everything to developing our education, we may not get to desired destination on time. Other affluents help us."

She poured encomiums on Gov. Soludo's performance in education, with special regard to recent pronouncement of free education from Nursery to Basic 9 across all public schools in the state.

"The gesture is a step in the right direction. It has taken dividends of democracy to every households. She enjoined parents to take advantage of this gesture.

"There is no point giving your children to affluents for upbringing, entertaining fear of inability to pay school fees. School fees/levies are no longer paid in Anambra State."

Mrs Okoli promised to support the free education policy wholly.

"Everything needed for schooling here, talking about uniform, badge, sports wear, pullover and text books are to be bought in the market and not school premises.

She commended the process at which 5000 teachers were recruited by the government a while ago, stressing that those posted in her school are doing well.

"My school do not have History and Home Economics teachers now.

"Hopefully by the time government finishes recruiting another 3000 teachers as proposed, the gap of shortage of teachers in the school will be closed.(Ministry of Information)
