"It’s With This Street Marketing I Built A Small House For My Parents In The Village – Viral Popcorn Hawker, Peter Precious Shares Inspiring Story

A young entrepreneur from Southern Kaduna, Peter Precious, has gone viral for his inspiring story of resilience, hard work, and purpose.

Known across Kaduna for selling popcorn on the streets dressed in stylish outfits, Peter has used his street marketing hustle not just to earn a living, but to build a better life for his family.

“It’s with this street marketing I supported my parents build a small house in the village,” he said, sharing his journey in a post that has since gained massive attention online.

Peter said he moved to Kaduna city in 2011 with a strong desire to support his parents and escape the poverty that surrounded them. He began his life in the city by packing refuse—locally referred to as “bola”—and doing whatever he could to survive.

“When I first came to Kaduna, I hated where we were living,” he said. “When it rained, we had to set plates all over the house because the zinc roof was leaking. The walls had holes—you could see inside the house from outside.”

Before coming to the city, Peter said he hawked sugarcane, groundnuts, and any seasonal food or fruit just to help his mother put food on the table. Despite the shame that some associated with street work, he never let that stop him.

“The smell or shame of what I was doing didn’t matter. What mattered to me was surviving and supporting my parents,” he said.

In 2017, Peter’s life took a new turn when his mentor, Emmanuel Beloved Oladepo, gifted him popcorn and gave him N3,000 to start a small business. That moment, he said, marked the birth of Lovepops Popcorn.

“I took sales and marketing very seriously,” Peter said. “I’m not shy about marketing. I know how God has used it to transform the lives of my family and those who work with me.”

Through his street popcorn business, Peter said he was able to pay his school fees at Kaduna Polytechnic, where he studied Food Technology. He now supports his family as the firstborn and has helped them build a house in the village—all from the proceeds of street marketing.

Peter said he has always been driven by what he called “anger and hunger.”

“I was angry about our situation—poverty. And I was hungry for a better future. That’s what keeps me working hard every single day,” he said.

He explained that he no longer works just to survive, but to build systems that will employ others and help them escape poverty too.

“I’ve seen people I love die because they couldn’t afford treatment. I’ve seen people enter marriages they shouldn’t have, just to escape poverty,” Peter said. “A poor person is a vulnerable person. Poverty must be fought.”

He added that his passion isn’t just selling or making popcorn—it’s creating platforms where people can find purpose and gainful employment.

“When you employ one person, at least ten people benefit,” he said. “That’s why I take marketing so seriously. It’s the fastest way to reach my vision.”

Peter described his street marketing as more than just a hustle. To him, it’s a strategic and intentional effort to build a company that will provide nourishment and employment to millions around the world.

“For every time someone buys Lovepops, prays for me, shares my post, recommends me, or supports me financially—they’re supporting a vision,” he said.

Peter said he dreams of a future where Lovepops Popcorn is one of the top three companies in the world, known for a working environment where staff earn more than pilots and are free to express creativity.

“I wake up daily working on this dream—either on my knees praying, or at my desk planning, or at the facility leading, or on the street marketing,” he said. “And I don’t do it alone. I work with a formidable team—the Lovepops Popcorn team.”

Peter ended his message with a simple but powerful statement:

“So yes, I found purpose in the street,” he said.
