LASG ORDERS HOSPITALITY BUSINESS OPERATORS TO GET APPROVAL FROM LASPA, LASTMA

The Lagos State Government has directed all operators in the hospitality business, such as hotels, event centres and night clubs, to secure the approval of both the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), to ensure effective parking and traffic management.

The directive was contained in a joint statement signed by the General Manager, LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu and the General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Bakare-Oki Olalekan, at the Parking Authority office.

It noted that the development became necessary to effectively rid the State of all forms of indiscriminate parking of vehicles and traffic congestion generated by the activities of the various hotels, event centres and night clubs in Lagos.

The General Managers charged owners of hospitality businesses operating in Lagos to ensure compliance with the State Parking and Traffic regulations by registering and getting the approvals of both the Parking Authority and LASTMA or face prosecution according to the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Laws 2018.

It noted that the State Parking Authority and LASTMA, as Agencies of the State Government under the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, are collaborating to rid the State of all forms of traffic congestion and ensure smoother, safer Lagos roads.

The statement further emphasised that while LASPA is the State Government Agency charged with the responsibility of ensuring proper parking management, LASTMA deals with traffic management, adding that both Agencies have distinct functions but work harmoniously towards the actualisation of the State Government agenda in Traffic Management and Transportation.

LASRO HOSTS WORKSHOP ON UPGRADED LAGOS RESILIENCE STRATEGY DIGITAL REPORTING PLATFORM

The Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO) has convened a high-impact workshop to unveil and train stakeholders on the upgraded Lagos Resilience Strategy Digital Reporting Platform. The event brought together key government agencies and technical partners committed to building a more resilient Lagos, held at the Zone, Plot 9 Gbagada Industrial Estate, beside UPS, Oworonshoki Expressway, Gbagada, Lagos, on Tuesday.

The upgraded platform represents another major leap forward in how resilience initiatives are tracked, reported, and evaluated across the State. It is designed to enhance transparency, data accuracy, and inter-agency collaboration. The digital tool will serve as a central hub for monitoring progress on the Lagos Resilience Strategy - a blueprint for strengthening the city’s ability to withstand shocks and stresses.

Participants received hands-on training on the platform’s enhanced functionalities, including real-time data input, automated analytics, and customizable dashboards.

Representatives from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) shared insights on integrating the platform into their operational workflows. Breakout discussions explored best practices for resilience reporting and identified opportunities for cross-sectoral collaboration.

Dr. Folayinka Dania, the Lagos State Chief Resilience Officer, represented by Tpl Olufemi Dada, an  Assistant Director, Town Planning, noted that the training was put together to equip every participant on effective use and walk through the features.

According to Dr. Dania, “This workshop is designed to ensure that every participant leaves here equipped to use the platform effectively. We will walk through its new features, explore practical use cases, and engage in hands-on sessions that will deepen your understanding and confidence”.

“The workshop affirmed our shared commitment to resilient Lagos.  A Lagos that can withstand shocks, recover swiftly, and thrive sustainably. A Lagos where innovation meets impact”, she added.

Mr Solomon Oluwalola, a representative of the Lagos Water Corporation, who was highly impressed by the development, said, “This upgraded platform is not just a tool, but a catalyst for smarter governance. By streamlining how we report and analyse resilience efforts, we’re empowering every stakeholder to contribute meaningfully to a safer, more adaptive Lagos.”

Ms. Omolola Owoeyi from the Ministry of Wealth Creation expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and LASRO for being on top of the game every time, moving the state above others.
