A 14-year-old Ohio girl has taken her own life, and her family believes that social media played a role. Szedi Roush sadly took her own life on Friday, June 12th. The loss of such a young and vibrant life has left the Blanchester, Ohio community shocked and filled with grief as they struggle to make sense of her passing.  Szedi was a student at Blanchester High School, where she was very active in sports and, by all outward appearances, a happy and outgoing teen. However, Szedi's family says there was a side to her kept hidden from her family. Despite being hidden from family, Szedi posted about her feelings  on TikTok. Her father says her most recent post described her feelings, and the method she intended to take her life, garnered over 40 reactions ranging from likes to hearts. THREADS LAUNCHES ADS FOR ALL USERS GLOBALLY. (PHOTO).

Threads launches ads for all users globally

Meta announced Wednesday that it is rolling out ads on Threads to all users worldwide. The rollout will begin next week and will be gradual, with the company noting that it could take several months before ads reach every user.

Threads, Meta’s social app and rival to X, has grown rapidly since its July 2023 launch, now reaching over 400 million monthly active users. The app hit 200 million users by mid-2024, 320 million by January 2025, and added another 30 million users last April. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has touted Threads as a potential billion-user platform in the coming years.

Ads on Threads have been in testing for some time. The platform first experimented with ads in the U.S. and Japan a year ago, then opened global advertising to brands last April. Advertisers can easily expand campaigns to Threads through Meta’s Advantage+ program or manual setups, using image and video formats, including carousel ads and the 4:5 aspect ratio. Ads on Threads can be managed alongside Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp campaigns in Meta’s Business Settings.

Meta is also extending third-party verification tools, already used on Facebook and Instagram, to Threads. This allows advertisers to confirm brand safety and suitability for the feed. While the company didn’t specify how frequently users will see ads, it said initial ad delivery will remain “low” as the feature scales globally.
