NSC CHAIRMAN HIGHLIGHTS IMPORTANCE OF PARA ATHLETES IN NIGERIAN SPORTS AS FIRST LADY DECLARES 3RD NATIONAL PARA GAMES CLOSED
The Los Angeles Police Department has announced that an arrest has been made in the February 17th bullying incident that led to the death of Khimberly. Aside from the announcement itself, little else is known besides the fact that the suspect is a juvenile.
According to reports, Khimberly was struck in the head with a metal water bottle when she attempted to intervene on her sister's behalf when she saw her sister being bullied.
Khimberly passed away on February 25th after undergoing brain surgery. In the time since her passing, the family has demanded answers and sought accountability. They ultimately filed a wrongful death suit against the Los Angeles Unified School District.
According to the family's attorney, Robert Glassman, "The arrest is an important step toward accountability, but an arrest alone does not equal justice and does not answer the larger question of how this was allowed to happen in the first place."

A 12-year-old California girl has lost her life after a bully hit her in the head with a metal water bottle.
Khimberly Chuquipa sadly passed away on February 25th.
According to the family’s GoFundMe, "Major blood vessels in her brain ruptured, and she was rushed to UCLA Children's hospital, placed in an induced coma, and underwent complex emergency brain surgery. Her family remained by her side, praying and hoping she would come home, but at 3:30 a.m., her heart gave out.”
This heartbreaking outcome is the result of a bullying incident that had taken place at school 10 days prior to her passing.
Khimberly was a 6th-grade student at Reseda High School. The charter school has students from 6th to 12th grade. While walking in the hallway between classes, another 12-year-old girl threw a metal water bottle and struck Khimberly in the head. Officials have stated that the 12-year-old girl was merely walking to class when she was attacked and struck with the heavy metal bottle. The 12-year-old had reported being bullied by this student and other students.
Following the incident, Khimberly was taken to the emergency room before being sent home for the remainder of the day. Ten days after the incident, Khimberly began suffering from a major headache before collapsing. She was rushed to the hospital, where she ultimately passed away.
The Los Angeles Police Department has announced that Khimberly's death is being investigated as a homicide. However, due to the case involving minors, they can not release any more details at this time.
Family and friends of Khimberly gathered outside of Reseda High School last night on Friday, February 27th. The mourners left flowers and other memorials while demanding justice for Khimberly.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Khimberly Chuquipa. We hope her family gets justice for her senseless passing.
