 YOUNG MAN DIES, PASTOR BATTLES FOR LIFE AS STORM RAVAGES CHURCH IN KARU— FAMILY  A heavy rainstorm has claimed the life of a young man, Moses Gata, and left a church pastor critically injured after the roof of a worship centre collapsed in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The incident occurred during a downpour accompanied by strong winds on Wednesday, which reportedly weakened the structure before it caved in on occupants. Eyewitnesses said the intensity of the windstorm tore through the building, ripping off the roof and causing extensive damage. Several worshippers were trapped in the debris. Moses Gata, described by acquaintances as calm and dedicated, died from injuries sustained in the collapse. His death has thrown family and friends into mourning.  Buffy Star Nicholas Brendon Was Found Dead By a Friend Taking Care of Him Nicholas Brendon, best known for playing Xander Harris on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was found passed at the age of 54, according to authorities. Putnam County Coroner Todd Zeiner confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE that Brendon was discovered on March 20. “He was positioned as if asleep,” Zeiner said. TMZ first reported the news. The coroner explained that Brendon lived alone, and it was a longtime friend who had been staying overnight to provide care who found him.  “Evidence indicated the time of death was very recent. Homicide detectives exhumed the remains of eight adults and 25 children as well as dismembered body parts packed in gunny sacks from a mass grave at a church-owned cemetery in the town of Kericho, according to authorities. “We were able to establish that these were bodies transferred from Nyamira District Hospital to a private cemetery in Kericho," Mohamed Amin, the head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, told reporters. Amin said detectives want to find out whether the bodies were disposed legally after being removed from a morgue.  Child abuse: Lagos Govt rescues 11-year-old boy tortured by his biological mother The Lagos State Government has rescued an 11-year-old boy who was tortured by his biological mother.  According to a statement issued by the Lagos State Bureau of Public Defender (BPD) on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the child suffered repeated physical abuse involving electric cables and other harmful objects, leaving him with multiple injuries.  Five members of the same family have d!ed in a tragic road accident along the Damaturu–Maiduguri highway in Yobe State. The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. The deceased identified as Hajjagana Dahiru Zayi, Ibrahim Dahiru Zayi, Muhammad Dahiru Zayi, Hauwa Dahiru Zayi, and another family member, were residents of Potiskum Local Government Area.  A relative of the victims, Dahiru Musa Talba, who confirmed the development in a Facebook post said three other relatives sustained varying degrees of injuries.  Scorned lover stabs his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend A 26- year-old Malawi national was stabbed by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend in South Africa. The incident happened at his residence in an informal settlement in Redcliffe, Verulam - KZN on Tuesday morning. EFCC Operation Not Responsible for Kwara Poly Protest Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, carried out a sting operation within two buildings flagged for suspected internet-related fraud  at Agbede Community in Ilorin, Kwara state.  The operation, carried out on Wednesday,  March 24, 2026,   yielded the arrest of 30 suspected internet fraudsters, six of whom are students of Kwara State Polytechnic.  Shipwreck off Djibouti kills nine migrants, dozens missing Nine migrants were killed and 45 were missing after a boat sank off the coast of Djibouti this week, the UN's migration agency said Thursday, AFP reported. Tens of thousands of migrants use the "Eastern Route" from the Horn of Africa to the Arabian Peninsula each year in search of work as labourers or domestic workers in Gulf countries. Last year was the deadliest on record along the route with the International Organisation for Migration recording 922 deaths, double the number for 2024. "A tragic shipwreck occurred during the night of March 24 off the coast of Djibouti, north of Obock: 9 dead, 45 missing, out of 320 passengers," the IOM said on X. Most migrants on the route come from Ethiopia and cross the Red Sea at the shortest point from Djibouti to Yemen.
