 Manhattan man charged with murder after allegedly pushing 83-year-old onto subway tracks, killing him   Bairon Hernandez has been charged with murder after allegedly pushing an 83-year-old man onto subway tracks in Manhattan, an attack that led to the elderly man’s death a week later. Hernandez is also accused of shoving another person onto the tracks the same day, March 8, at the Lexington Avenue-63rd Street station. Authorities say the assault was random and unprovoked. Investigators reported that Hernandez first pushed a 30-year-old man onto the tracks before approaching Richard Williams, who was walking with a cane, and shoving him as well. Williams fell, hitting his head and suffering a brain bleed, and died nine days later from his injuries.  Court bars Turaki-led faction from PDP national secretariat A federal high court in Abuja has barred a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Turaki from accessing the party’s national secretariat. In a judgment delivered on Monday, Joyce Abdulmalik, the presiding judge, granted the order in a suit filed by PDP members loyal to Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The court also directed security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services, to provide protection for the Wike-backed faction to access and operate from the party’s national headquarters. Abdulmalik said the national convention organised on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, which produced the Turaki-led faction, was conducted in defiance of subsisting court orders.  In a move to deepen its sanitation drive, the Abia State Government has mandated the installation of waste bins in all commercial vehicles, with enforcement set to commence on April 1, 2026. The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed this while briefing Journalists on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti. Prince Kanu said the directive was part of ongoing efforts by the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) to support, promote and enhance the cleanliness of the state, noting that the initiative would require all commercial vehicles to provide waste bins for passenger use. The late-night assault, which occurred around 11:47 p.m. on Sunday, left several guests injured and an unspecified number abducted. According to a resident, Shehu Bala, the attackers, armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the venue in large numbers and opened fire indiscriminately on attendees.  An Ohio man is in custody after taking the life of a woman and her 12-year-old son. His motive remains completely unknown.  Police in Akron were called to the scene of a fatal shooting at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 28th.  They were first alerted of the situation when a woman called 911 after running from the scene after being shot at by the man.  When officers arrived, they discovered a vehicle in flames. It appeared the vehicle had left the roadway and crashed into a tree line on Hemlock Street. When officers approached the vehicle, they made a heartbreaking discovery.  Inside of the burning vehicle, officers discovered a 12-year-old boy and his 47-year-old mother, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The mother was in the driver's seat.  Sadly, the young boy was pronounced deceased on scene.  Springfield, Illinois- A 36-year-old woman escaped from a hotel room this morning after a 35-year-old man attempted to take her life. Sadly, no one at the hotel would help her while she begged for help.  (People are commenting about the text saying which hospital she is at. She is no longer at that hospital, so no worries there.)   Heather Lowe was staying at the The Mainstay Suites Hotel on Dirksen Parkway with an employee at the hotel named Kevin Elkins. On Saturday night, and early this morning, Heather found herself fighting for her life. We interviewed Heather's daughter as Heather is telling her daughter all of the information to get her story out, although she is having great difficulty speaking due to her injuries. Heather shared that she was sitting in the hotel room when Kevin stated he was going to leave briefly to get cigarettes. He was out for much longer than Heather expected. A MISSISSIPPI WOMAN WHO WAS FOUND IN A DITCH SUFFERING FROM A DOG ATTACK HAS SADLY, PASSED AWAY. (PHOTO).

 She never stopped fighting. A Mississippi woman who was found in a ditch suffering from a dog attack has sadly, passed away.  35-year-old LaKesha Newsom was walking along Highway 178 in Holly Spring, Mississippi, on March 3rd, when  she was attacked by dogs. LaKesha was discovered a short time after the attack and airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee, where she spent the next three weeks fighting for her life.  LaKesha ultimately had an arm and leg amputated due to the severity of her injuries. However, even these drastic measures weren't enough to save her life as she passed away on Friday, March 27th.   Her family questions some of the injuries, such as two black eyes; thinking there must be more to the story. They also wonder why the dogs responsible have not been put down.  An armed and dangerous suspect is currently being sought in Illinois.  A 16-year-old Illinois girl was fatally shot in her home over the weekend. Authorities in Cook County, Illinois, are searching for a person of interest they described as armed and dangerous, after the Saturday morning homicide of 16-year-old, Lily Bova. Lily had her life taken away from her in the upscale apartment where she lived in unincorporated Glenview, Illinois.  The incident occurred around 11 a.m. and Lily passed away a short time later at Advocate General Lutheran Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. Authorities are being tight-lipped on the circumstances leading up to the shooting. They haven't provided a picture or name for the suspect.  Lily was a sophomore at Glen Brook South High School.  The school has provided grief counselors for students as they cope with the loss of their peer.  Indiana teen was found covered in blood after saving his entire family from his demented stepdad.  The shocking series of events that led to the arrest of Robert Vanatta lV took place  in Greenwood, Indiana, on March 22nd.  On that evening, officers were called to the Candlewood Suites where they were met by a 17-year-old boy covered in blood.  The teen had an incredible story of his family's ordeal to escape from Robert Vanatta. The mother had initially fled her home with the 17-year-old and his 16-year-old and 5-year-old siblings to escape from Vanatta's escalating @buse. The family had sought refuge at the Candlewood Suites. However, Vanatta had tracked them down and laid in wait for his opportunity to exert control once again. The deal, first reached in January, comes ahead of Pope Leo XIV’s planned visit to Spain from June 6 to 12, the first papal trip to the country since 2011. Another Cypriot government official added that the agreement ⁠will allow the two countries to negotiate the sale of natural gas to Egypt or Egypt's state-owned companies from Cyprus's Kronos and Aphrodite offshore fields. The incident occurred around 5 a.m., authorities confirmed. Eyewitnesses said the accident involved a vehicle that reportedly lost control. The crash resulted in significant livestock casualties, though human injuries were also reported. Emergency responders and local authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially on rural roads during early hours. The exact number of injured individuals is still being confirmed, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the accident.  POLICE ARREST 14 MORE  SUSPECTS OVER ATTACK ON OFFICERS IN ERIN-OSUN, ILOBU The Osun State Police Command has arrested 14 additional suspects in connection with the recent attack on police officers in Erin-Osun and Ilobu communities, as investigations into the incident intensify. An update issued by the Command's spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi,  disclosed that the 14  suspects were apprehended through intelligence-led operations, bringing the total number of arrests to 18. According to the statement, the suspects had gone into hiding after the attack but were tracked and arrested by operatives under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan. The Command also confirmed the recovery of weapons linked to the incident, including a single-barrel gun, a live cartridge, and a cutlass.  Nigeria Commiserates With  Algeria On Passing  Of Former President   Liamine Zeroual Federal Government has expressed its condolences to Algeria following the death of former President Liamine Zeroual.   In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria described the former Algerian leader, who passed away at the age of 84, as a distinguished statesman. Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar conveyed the condolences of the Nigerian government to his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, and to the family of the late president. The statement highlighted President Zeroual’s leadership during a critical transitional period in Algeria’s history, noting that his legacy of peace and statecraft extends beyond his country’s borders, particularly across Africa.  Kaduna North Senator Resigns From PDP Senator Ibrahim Khalid Mustapha, who represents Kaduna North in the National Assembly, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a letter dated March 27, 2026, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Soba Ward, Mustapha cited ongoing leadership disputes and court cases within the party as his reason for leaving.  He said the internal conflicts made it difficult to remain an active member. “The internal crisis, unending court cases, and leadership disagreements have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my membership and participation,” the senator stated. He thanked party members for their support over the years.  Reports suggest he may join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) next.

 EFCC Arrests Company Rep Over Alleged N993m Fraud in Ilorin The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC has arrested a company representative, Kofoworola Motunrayo Kolawole, over an alleged fraud to the tune of N993,247,796.70 (Nine Hundred and Ninety-Three Million, Two Hundred and Forty-Seven Thousand, Seven Hundred and Ninety-Six Naira, Seventy Kobo). The arrest of Kolawole, 37, was sequel to a petition submitted to the Commission by Predictus Remit Limited, a subsidiary of Fairmoney Microfinance Bank. The petitioner alleged that Kolawole, alongside the company directors - Duru Ogadima, Talukder Muhammed Khalidur Rahman (both currently at large) and their firm, DKK Partners Limited, fraudulently obtained the said sum under the pretext of facilitating a foreign exchange transaction.
