It’s fake news, Adelabu denies resignation rumours  The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has denied reports suggesting he has resigned from office, describing the claims as false and misleading amid growing political speculation over his future. The rebuttal comes at a time of heightened uncertainty following a Federal Government directive requiring political appointees with ambitions for the 2027 general elections to step down from their positions. Responding in a WhatsApp chat with journalists on Tuesday, Adelabu’s Special Assistant on Media, Bolaji Tunji, dismissed the reports as fake news, insisting that the minister remains fully committed to his responsibilities in the power sector. “The news of the minister’s resignation is fake. There is no truth to it”, Tunji said. The media aide also shared photos of the purported resignation letter stamped “fake news.”

 Lawyer dies after being trapped in Abuja hotel lift  lawyer, Barrister Abdulsalami Ginsau, has reportedly d!ed after being trapped inside an elevator at a hotel in Abuja. An eyewitness account said the incident occurred on Monday, March 30, 2026.  The report indicated that the deceased was stuck in the lift for a prolonged period, leading to his d3ath, suspected to be from suffocation. However, the exact cause of the incident has not been officially confirmed. It’s is unclear whether it was due to a power outage or a mechanical fault in the elevator. Authorities and the management of the hotel involved have issued an official statement at the time of filing this report. The identity of the hotel has also not been disclosed.  Meanwhile friends and colleagues have taken to social media to mourn him.

The first whale was discovered near the Golden Gate Bridge on March 17, followed by a second found wedged under pilings at the Phillips 66 Refinery in Rodeo on March 25. A third whale was located off Tiburon near the Larkspur Ferry Terminal, and a fourth was reported near Oakland Harbor over the weekend.  An Oklahoma grandmother didn't hesitate when she saw her grandkids struggling, giving her life, to save their lives.  53-year-old Robecca Garrett was spending an enjoyable afternoon with her grandchildren at Lake Eufaula on Sunday, March 23rd, when things went horribly wrong. Around 3:10 p.m. Robecca noticed her 8-year-old and 10-year-old grandchildren had gone into the lake and were struggling in the water at the 9 South Swim Area of the lake. Reports indicate the water temperature of the water was 53 degrees that day. However, Robecca never had a second thought as she went headlong into the cold waters.   Thanks to Robecca's selfless act, both grandchildren were soon safe, but Robecca was in serious trouble. NiDCOM CONFIRMS DEPORTATION OF 40 NIGERIANS FROM MOZAMBIQUE; CALLS FOR CALM ON EVENTS IN SOUTH AFRICA The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has confirmed the deportation of 40 out of 42 Nigerians arrested and locked up for weeks in  Mozambique. The deportees from Mozambique arrived in Nigeria in three batches of 13, 16 and 11 respectively aboard a South African Airways flight, SA60 and Ethiopian Airline on March 24, 26 and 27, with two of them remaining in Mozambique.                                       A statement by the Commission's Spokesperson,  Abdur-Rahman Balogun described such act as inhuman and a violation of their human rights as they were randomly arrested, detained and deported despite having their proper documentation.  The Commission notes that the deportation did not follow due process.                   ...

 Protest Erupts In Kaduna As Residents Demand El-Rufai’s Release Residents in Kaduna took to the streets on Tuesday to protest the rearrest of Nasir El-Rufai, following the postponement of his bail hearing by the Federal High Court in Abuja. The demonstrators carried placards calling for the immediate release of El-Rufai, expressing their support for the former governor and concerns over what they perceive as preferential treatment in the legal process. The protesters marched through major streets in Kaduna, chanting slogans in support of the former governor.  The ICPC had temporarily released El-Rufai last Friday to attend his mother’s funeral but took him back into custody when the court postponed his bail hearing.  South Africa cuts fuel tax as pump prices go up South Africa on Tuesday lowered its fuel tax for a month to offset a global oil price surge driven by the Iran war, even as pump prices rose in one of the steepest increases on record. The general fuel levy would be reduced by three rand ($0.18) per litre, the finance and petroleum ministers said in a joint statement. Despite the relief, diesel will rise more than 7 rand per litre, a 40% increase, while petrol – still cheaper than diesel – will jump about 15%. Kerosene, widely used by lower-income households for lighting, heating, and cooking, will surge 93%. Measure to cost the government $352 million The measure will cost about six billion rand ($352 million) in foregone revenue but is designed to be fiscally neutral, with losses recouped elsewhere, the government said. During a routine traffic enforcement exercise yesterday, operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce apprehended a 44-year old man, Akinola Obisesan, for theft inside a commercial bus. The suspect, who was seated beside a female passenger, Afolabi Kafayat, discreetly brought out a blade, cut open her handbag, and removed her phone without her knowledge. The victim, however, noticed suspicious movements and promptly raised an alarm, leading to the swift intervention and arrest of the suspect by Taskforce officials on duty.  EFCC Uncovers Alleged Employment Scam Syndicate in Ilorin, Arrests Suspects The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC has arrested one Bolaji Kazeem Akinwunmi, popularly known as “Bolaji Original,” for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting job seekers of the sum of ₦2,921,700 (Two Million, Nine Hundred and Twenty-One Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira Only). Akinwunmi was arrested alongside his accomplice and former lover, Kemisola Mary Akinbo. Investigations revealed that Akinwunmi, at different times, posed as an officer of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service, falsely claiming he had access to employment slots for interested applicants.

NASS Approves 68.3 Trillion Naira 2026 National Budget Bill ‎ ‎The National Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill totaling Sixty Eight point Three Trillion Naira.  ‎ ‎The increase in the 2026 budget size with an additional 9 trillion naira followed President Tinubu's request to the Senate and  House of Representatives which was expeditiously approved by both chambers.  ‎ ‎The budget increase is to enable alignment with financing plans and to preserve macro economic stability.  ‎ ‎The Senate and House of Representatives also approved two seperate loan requests from the President. ‎ ‎The first is for a  five billion US dollars loan from the First Abu Dhabi Bank of the United Arab Emirates to establish an external financing programme. ‎ ‎The other request was for the sourcing  of 1.9 billion US Dollars from Citi Bank of London to enable the upgrade of the Apapa and Tin Can Island Ports in Lagos.

Phone Snatchers Kill Middle-aged Man In Kaduna Tragedy struck in Kaduna after suspected phone snatchers killed an unidentified middle-aged man at Kawo Bridge in Kaduna North Local Government Area.  The incident reportedly occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday as the victim was rushing to board a commercial tricycle, popularly known as keke Napep, when he was approached by a group of youths. Eyewitnesses said the attackers demanded his mobile phone. While he was trying to hand it over, one of them allegedly stabbed him. A witness recounted that the victim collapsed immediately after the attack, while the assailants fled the scene.  Efforts by passersby to catch the suspects were unsuccessful. Residents described Kawo Bridge as a known hotspot for criminal activities and called on security agencies to strengthen patrols and surveillance in the area.  BREAKING NEWS ANAMBRA POLICE RECORD FURTHER BREAKTHROUGH IN OGIDI, RECOVER MORE ARMS In continuation of an earlier operation by Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, which led to the arrest of three suspects and recovery of arms in Ogidi on 21st March 2026, the Anambra State Police Command has recorded further breakthrough following sustained investigation and interrogation. The Operatives made additional progress with the arrest of the suspected ringleader of the syndicate, one Chukwuka Anene ‘M’, aged 46 years, who confessed to being the armourer of the gang. The suspect subsequently led Police operatives to the gang’s hideout in Ogidi, where the following items were recovered: two pump-action guns, two locally made Beretta pistols, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, seven live cartridges, a beret linked to a cult group, and body armour.
