  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous. OGUN TRANSPORT MINISTRY ROLLS OUT TRAFFIC ADVISORY ON IYALODE ALABA LAWSON'S BURIAL



The Ogun State Ministry of Transportation has notified the general public, particularly the motoring public that Oke-Itoku junction inbound Sapon will not be accessible to traffic on Tuesday, December 5 and Friday, December 8, 2023.


A release signed by the Commissioner for Transport, Engr. Gbenga Dairo indicated that the traffic advisory was due to the heavy flow of human and vehicular movement anticipated during the service of songs and other burial activities put in place for the late Iyalode of Egbaland, Chief Mrs Oluwaseun Alaba Lawson, scheduled to hold at the Osile Oke-Ona Egbas’ Palace, Sapon, on the said days.


The release further stated that traffic from Ake and its environs to Sapon would be diverted to Ijemo-Agbadu/Ake near Oke-Itoku junction, thereby temporarily converting it to two-way traffic for the duration of the event on each of the two (2) days as stated below:


Day 1 (Tuesday, 5th December, 2023, 2pm -8pm)


Day 2 (Friday, 8th December, 2023, 2pm-8pm)


It added that TRACE and security agencies would be deployed along the routes to ensure effective and integrated traffic management, to limit delay and traffic congestion.


The release appealed to members of the public and road users along the axis for their understanding and regrets any inconveniences, adding that the State government had assured that the measures put in place would minimise delay and guarantee orderliness.
