AFCON: Avenge Nigerian artists’ loss to Tyla, Teni begs Super Eagles to defeat South Africa

Singer Teniola Apata, also known as Teni, has encouraged the Super Eagles to give their all to secure victory in Wednesday’s AFCON Semi-final match against South Africa.

She specifically urged star striker Victor Osimhen and his teammates to aim for a decisive victory over the South African team, seeking revenge for the defeat suffered by some Nigerian artists at the hands of South African singer Tyla during the 66th Grammys.

The Nation reported that Nigerian artists Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Asake, and Olamide were overlooked at the 66th Grammys on Sunday, while Tyla, the sole non-Nigerian nominee in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category, clinched the award.

Reacting in a video message shared via her social media page, Teni pleaded with the Super Eagles players to avenge the Grammy loss of their compatriots by defeating South Africa in the semifinal clash in Cote D’Ivoire.

She said: “Grammy there’s a problem. We have many parties. You have killed our groove.

“South Africa, Tyla’s ‘Water.’ Alright. [Victor] Osimhen, over to you. [Ademola] Lookman, over to you. South Africa, you will dance Amapiano after your AFCON defeat. You killed my groove. Grammy why?”
