Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported.  Insecurity: RCCG members engage in prayer walk, seek divine intervention for Nigeria’s challenges

Thousands of members from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) congregated in Abuja on Sunday for a prayer walk, seeking divine intervention for Nigeria’s current security and economic challenges.

Led by Pastor Tunde Benjamin Laniyi of RCCG Throne Room, Transcorp Abuja, the prayer walk is an annual event held by the RCCG, taking place in 190 countries globally, with this year’s theme titled “HEALING.”

During the prayer walk, Pastor Laniyi emphasized the belief that there is no challenge beyond divine intervention.

The congregation prayed for healing in the country and called on God to answer Nigeria’s pressing issues.

In his sermon, Pastor Laniyi urged Nigerians to continue praying for divine guidance for the country’s leaders, expressing confidence that through intercession, Nigeria would experience healing.

Former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor (retired), who addressed the congregation, acknowledged the country’s prevailing security and economic challenges but emphasized hope.

He urged Nigerians, especially the youth, not to lose hope and encouraged them to believe in the nation.

Gen. Irabor emphasized that the youth play a crucial role in the country’s growth and success.

“My appeal to the youth is that they should not lose hope. They should have faith in our nation because the health of the country lies in their hands and it’s yet to be tapped, and we can succeed only when we look beyond the ordinary,” he said.

He added that Nigeria’s challenges are not significantly different from those encountered by other countries on their path to growth
