 AGF to Meet Senate Panel on Tax Reform Bills Today The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), is set to meet with the Senate today (Thursday) to review the Tax Reform Bills submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly. Amid controversy surrounding the bills, especially from the North, President Tinubu had urged for calm and directed the AGF to engage with the National Assembly to resolve the issues. In response, the Senate established a panel to meet with the AGF. Although the meeting had been delayed due to changes in the Senate panel's membership and caucus discussions, a source from the Ministry of Justice confirmed that the meeting will proceed today. Senator Abba Moro, Chairman of the Senate Special Committee, also confirmed that both the AGF and Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, have been invited to the session.  JGSG Establishes Ramadan Feeding Centres In Tertiary Institution


Jigawa State Government says Ramadan feeding centres will be established at 10 tertiary institutions across the state to support students during the fasting period. 


The State Commissioner for information, youths, sports and Culture Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting held at government house Dutse. 


According to him, the state government  plans to feed over 3.8 million people during this year's Ramadan period in order to support the poor and vulnerable.


Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed pointed out that, the state government has approved over 2.8 Billion naira for special Ramadan feeding at the established 609 centers across the state. 


He said the support initiative designed  inline with government policy is meant to reduce hardship and burden on the less privileged people particularly during this trying period.


The Commissioner noted that, the council also approved the formation of an adhoc committee in all the 27 local  government areas to be chaired by the commissioner for local government or senior special advisers at the local government without commissioner to ensure transparency. 


Sagir said, other committee members include members of the state house of assembly, senior special assistants, special assistants, local government chairman and Police DPO                                                  

Others also include the Department of State Security DSS officer of the Local government,representative CSO's, representative of districts heads, with local government secretary who is to serve as Secretary of the committee. 


Similarly the council also approved over 1.125 billion naira for additional procurement of food stuff to be distributed to poor and vulnerable people in an effort to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship.
