M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting. KENTUCKY SHELTER EMPLOYEES SHOCKED AND HEARTBROKEN WHEN AN ABANDONED DOG LEADS THEM TO HIS UNFORTUNATE FRIEND WHOSE SIDE HE REFUSES TO LEAVE. (PHOTO).

Kentucky shelter employees shocked and heartbroken when an abandoned dog leads them to his unfortunate friend whose side he refused to leave.

Staff at the Floyd County Animal Shelter noticed a pile a rotted meat had been dumped by someone on the trails they use for walking pups. The next day when staff went to clean up the mess they realized something had eaten some of it. Curiosity took over and they explored a little further up the trail, however neither staff member was ready for what they would find.

After a few minutes of exploring, a stray pit bull ran right up to them. They said right away they could tell he was trying to convey something to them. He would run up to them and bark before running ahead as if he wanted them to follow him. So of course they followed him and what they found will forever be etched in their memories.

The dog which has since been named Ludwik led them to another dog, which had been tied tightly to a tree. They quickly tried to help but realized it was too late. The pup had already passed from what appeared to be asphyxiation. They said his face had suffered damage and there were claw marks in the tree, both most likely occurred while this poor dog struggled to breathe.

By the state of his body, he had perished 2 or 3 days earlier, but Ludwik had refused to leave him! Even after Ludwik himself had found human help he basically had to be dragged from the scene due to the obvious strong bond he shared with the deceased dog.

They were eventually able to get Ludwik back to the shelter and filed a police report. They then turned to social media in hopes of finding the sick individual who would do something like this. Although the perpetrator has not been found, the community as a whole was horrified and donations ensuring Ludwik is well taken care of began to pour in.

The clinic also cremated his unfortunate best friend and have placed his remains in a small urn that will be attached to Ludwik's collar.

If you have any information about who did this to the dog, please call Floyd County Sheriff's department at 1-606-886-6711.
