Katsina Governor Approves 2025 Budget
On Wednesday, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda formally signed the state's 2025 budget, named 'Building Your Future II,' into law.
Originally proposed at ₦682.2 billion, the budget was revised by the state House of Assembly, which added ₦10 billion, bringing the final total to ₦692.2 billion.
Governor Radda had initially presented the budget proposal on November 25, 2024.
During the signing ceremony at the Government House in Katsina, the governor commended the state assembly for its dedication to passing a budget focused on fostering development in the coming year. He also acknowledged the significant contributions of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in crafting a well-structured and impactful financial plan for the state.
Radda highlighted, “Our 2025 budget underscores our commitment to capital development. Katsina’s recurrent expenditure now constitutes 22.8% of the total budget, a notable reduction from 28% last year, while over 77% is allocated to capital projects.” He emphasized that this reallocation reflects his administration’s focus on infrastructure, education, and agriculture.
“The 2025 budget builds on our achievements in 2024 and sets the stage for continued growth,” Radda added.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Daura, described the budget as the outcome of a comprehensive legislative process. He explained that an additional ₦10 billion was identified during budget defense sessions with MDAs, which resulted in the increased final appropriation.
“This thorough review ensures that the budget addresses the real needs of our people. The revised ₦692.2 billion will provide a strong foundation for improving living standards and fostering development across the state,” Daura stated.
He also praised Governor Radda’s commitment to the welfare of Katsina’s residents and expressed confidence that the budget’s implementation will drive significant progress in 2025.
The 2025 budget prioritizes key sectors such as education, agriculture, and other essential areas, reinforcing the administration’s focus on enhancing the state’s economic and social infrastructure.
