 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AND AUGMENTS IGP’S MONITORING UNIT OPERATIVES ON ENFORCEMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP ESCORT DUTIES IN THE STATE The Anambra State Police Command today 8th December 2025 formally received operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Monitoring Unit deployed to the state to ensure full implementation of the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties. The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts targeted at enhancing professionalism, discipline, and optimal deployment of police manpower nationwide. The CP noted that the withdrawal of these officers will help to strengthen public policing, improve response capacity, and ensure that more personnel are available for core policing duties across the state.  Trump's Envoy Steve Witkoff Meets Putin in Moscow Amid Ukraine Peace Efforts


Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Friday during what Trump has described as a pivotal moment in efforts to end the war in Ukraine.


WITKOFF has become Washington’s primary channel for communication with Putin as Trump works to broker a peace agreement, having already held three extensive meetings with the Russian leader.


Putin was joined by his foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, and investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev.


This visit comes just a day after Trump condemned a Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv that left at least 12 dead, urging on social media: "Vladimir, STOP!"


Despite the attack, Trump stated that substantial progress had been made in peace negotiations.


“These next few days will be crucial. Talks are ongoing, and I believe we’re very close to reaching an agreement,” Trump remarked.
