 Renowned 20th-century philosopher Jürgen Habermas dies at 96 Jürgen Habermas, the German philosopher widely recognized for his contributions to modern political thought and democratic theory, died Saturday in Starnberg, Germany, at the age of 96. His passing was confirmed in a statement by his Berlin-based publisher, Suhrkamp Verlag, which noted that Habermas’s work, translated into more than 40 languages, had left a lasting impact on global intellectual discourse. Jonathan Landgrebe, head of the publishing house, described him as “a significant philosopher, ever-present advisor, and dear friend.” For more than six decades, Habermas helped shape postwar and post-reunification German political life. He is best known for conceptualizing the “public sphere,” a domain for discussion free from state influence, which he argued is essential for a functioning democracy.  Chidimma’s Mother Back in Court for Fraud and Identity Theft


Anabela Rungo, the mother of former Miss South Africa finalist Chidimma Adetshina, appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates Court today, September 12, 2025.


She faces charges of identity theft, immigration fraud, and violations of the Immigration and Identification Acts. The case is linked to allegations that she obtained South African citizenship fraudulently.


Rungo was arrested in February 2025, months after her South African ID was revoked in September 2024. Her bail conditions were recently relaxed from house arrest to a nightly curfew.


Today’s court appearance is expected to shed more light on the case, which could see her facing prison time and possible deportation to Mozambique if found guilty.
