 43 children among 79 civilians killed in paramilitary RSF drone attack in Sudan's South Kordofan At least 79 civilians, including 43 children, were killed and 38 others injured in a drone strike carried out by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in South Kordofan, Sudanese authorities said, TRT Afrika reported. In a statement, the South Kordofan state government said four women were among the victims in Thursday’s attack on the city of Kalogi in western Sudan. It said the drone fired four missiles into a kindergarten, a hospital and densely populated residential areas, describing the incident as a "heinous crime" committed by the RSF-allied Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N). Authorities had initially reported eight fatalities, including six children and a teacher, before the death toll climbed to 79.  Kyari Represents President Tinubu at Launch of Global Flood Disaster Management Project


Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari,  stood in for President Bola Tinubu, at the official launch of the Global Flood Disaster Management Project (GFDMP)


In his keynote address on behalf of the President, Senator Kyari described the initiative as a landmark step in international cooperation to build flood resilience, noting that Nigeria remains severely affected by climate-induced flooding that devastates farmlands, infrastructure and livelihoods.


He reaffirmed President Tinubu’s determination to pursue long-term climate adaptation through enhanced early-warning systems, flood-resilient infrastructure, improved disaster-response coordination and community-led solutions.


The President outlined the project’s four core pillars:


Advanced Early Warning Systems


Flood-Resilient Infrastructure

Capacity Building and Knowledge Transfer

Community


 Engagement and Local Participation


Senator Kyari assured international partners of Nigeria’s full commitment to the initiative, pledging active collaboration to bolster national resilience and safeguard vulnerable communities.


The  ceremony drew policymakers, development partners, disaster-management specialists and members of the diplomatic corps, underscoring a collective resolve to create a safer, more resilient future in the face of escalating flood risks.
