 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week. COURTESY VISIT: Bauchi State Police Command Hosts Corporate Affairs Commission's Officials


The Bauchi State Police Command received a courtesy visit from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Bauchi State Office. The delegation was led by the Head of Office, Alhaji Abdulqadeer Yerima Giade (Ajiyan Giade), and accompanied by three other officials. The visit took place at the Police Headquarters, Yandoka Road, Bauchi.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu psc(+), mni, hosted the officials. During the visit, Alhaji Giade stated that the purpose was to familiarize himself with the Commissioner and to strengthen the existing cordial relationship between the Police and the Commission in the state.


He further highlighted plans for a public sensitization campaign to educate citizens on new business procedures and the seamless registration process offered by the CAC. He requested the support and cooperation of the Police Command, particularly for security coverage during the campaign.


The CAC Head also commended the Commissioner of Police, acknowledging Bauchi State as one of the most peaceful and secure states in the Northern part of Nigeria.


In response, CP Aliyu warmly welcomed Alhaji Giade and his entourage. He assured them of the Command’s continued cooperation and support, whenever required, to complement the statutory responsibilities of the Commission.
