LAGOS RETAINS NUMBER ONE POSITION IN SUB-NATIONAL RANKING ON SGBV PREVENTION AND RESPONSE

Lagos State has once again secured its place as the leading state in Nigeria for the prevention and response to Sexual and Gender-Based violence, marking the third consecutive year it has held this position. The yearly sub-national ranking, conducted by Invictus Africa with support from the Ford Foundation, is entirely data-driven and assesses performance across four key pillars: prevention and awareness, support services, law and policy, and budget spending.

Receiving the award on behalf of the State, the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, expressed appreciation to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for providing strong political backing that continues to strengthen the State’s coordinated response. She also acknowledged the residents of Lagos for embracing the State’s zero tolerance message and actively supporting efforts to curb Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.

Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi reaffirmed that the Lagos State Government remains firmly committed to sustaining and improving its response mechanisms. She noted that the State will not relent in driving initiatives that protect survivors, hold offenders accountable, and prevent violence before it occurs, with a long-term goal of reducing the menace to the barest minimum.
