 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week. Knight of St John international Expels Sir Louis Okoye(Akacham) orders him to stop wearing their uniform and using their insignia, title and properties



In a letter dated 21st January, the knights of St John's international, assumption commandery Nnewi, under Catholic Church have formerly expelled sir James Louis Okoye, in relation to the incident of 14th January.


According to sir Noble cyprian Egbosi, the president of the assumption commandery Nnewi, the decision comes after a proper investigation and probe into the incident that led to Sir James denouncing Roman Catholic and subsequently resorting to apostasy. 


The letter also highlighted that, the major reasons for expelling him(James) from Knight of St John's is

1. He has denounce Catholic Church 

2. He has resorted to apostasy 

3. His attitude is unbecoming of a knight 


The letter also mandates James Louis Okoye to desist from laying claims to all the rights and privileges of members of knights, including using the word "Sir" and wearing every uniform attached to St John's Knight and also submit any property of the knight in his possession.
