 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. TENSION HAS REPORTEDLY GRIPPED OBUKPA TOWN, IN NSUKKA AREA OF ENUGU STATE, FOLLOWING THE ALLEGED KILLING OF A YOUNG MAN BY SOME YOUTHS FROM AMAOZARA OBUKPA COMMUNITY.(PHOTO)


 Tension has reportedly gripped Obukpa town, in Nsukka area of Enugu state, following the alleged killing of a young man by some youths from Amaozara Obukpa community.


According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred at about 10:00pm on Saturday when the youths allegedly approached the victim, accusing him of being responsible for the theft of solar-powered street lights in the area. 


The young man, who was later discovered by residents as an innocent indigene of Obukpa, was reportedly beaten severely.


Sources claim that during the attack, the assailants allegedly used iron rods to assault the victim, inflicting fatal injuries.


 The young man was said to have died as a result of the injuries sustained.


Following the incident, fear and panic reportedly spread across Obukpa town, with many residents fleeing for safety. 


It was further alleged that youths from Amaozara Obukpa involved in the attack have since abandoned the town and gone into hiding in nearby bushes and mountainous areas.

Meanwhile investigation is currently underway.
