Nick Cannon allows his 15-year-old son to date but teen daughter is banned: 'I'm going to jail'
Nick Cannon recently admitted he treats his teenage twins differently when it comes to dating. On the TMZ Podcast, the entertainer said he has allowed and even encouraged his 15‑year‑old son, Moroccan, to start dating.
However, when asked about his daughter Monroe, Cannon was firm that she does not get the same freedom, openly acknowledging the double standard in his parenting.
Explaining his reasoning, Cannon said he feels a stronger need to protect his daughter from potential dangers in the dating world.
He noted that while his son’s experiences may involve different challenges, he worries about scenarios such as domestic violence when it comes to Monroe.
Cannon even joked that if anyone ever harmed his daughter, he would end up in jail because of how fiercely protective he is.
Despite his reservations, Cannon said he is preparing Monroe for independence, especially as she heads toward college.
He explained that if she can clearly outline what will happen on a date, he would consider allowing it, emphasizing the importance of open communication.
Cannon hopes that by having these conversations now, his daughter will be equipped to make thoughtful decisions later in life.
