National Coordinator of the movement, Yunusa Tanko, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
Tanko acknowledged growing public concerns and media reports about recent political developments, including evolving engagements with current and potential partners.
The clarification comes a day after Habibu Mohammed, spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya movement, claimed on Friday night that Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso would defect from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) next week.
Mohammed had stated that the decision was sealed following a unanimous endorsement by relevant stakeholders.
It was also noted that Obi has not attended any ADC meetings since the all-opposition political leaders’ summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in April.
However, Tanko insisted that Obi’s current engagements are focused on finding the most strategic and effective path forward for the benefit of Nigerians.
“As a movement founded on integrity, accountability, and active citizen participation, we remain dedicated to ensuring that every decision taken reflects our values and long-term vision for the country,” the statement read.
“These consultations are deliberate, thorough, and guided by the overriding objective of securing a future that works for all Nigerians,” Tanko added.
The Obidient Movement said it would continue to support Obi in whatever decision he takes in the overall interest of the nation.
