OPERATION HADIN KAI FOILS TERRORIST INFILTRATION, DISRUPTS LOGISTICS NETWORKS, ARRESTS COLLABORATORS The Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has recorded significant operational successes in its ongoing counterterrorism and counterinsurgency campaign across the North-East. Through a combination of offensive operations, intelligence-led actions, and collaboration with local security stakeholders, troops successfully foiled a terrorist infiltration attempt and disrupted terrorist logistics and support networks, further degrading the operational capabilities of insurgent groups in the Theatre.  Laos cave rescue: One villager freed as divers continue effort to reach others trapped by flooding for 10 days

One villager has been rescued from a flooded cave in Laos as divers continue a complex operation to reach and extract multiple people who have been trapped underground for 10 days, officials said Friday.

Rescue teams said the man was pulled from the cave after being among five villagers who were initially located but still required extraction. Officials confirmed he is in stable condition and will be transported to a hospital for further evaluation, with medical checks ongoing.

Authorities said six villagers remain inside the cave system in Xaisomboun province. Four of those individuals have been found but have not yet been brought out, while two others remain unaccounted for as search and rescue efforts continue.

The group entered the cave on May 19 in search of gold when heavy rainfall triggered flash flooding that cut off the exit, according to officials. One villager managed to escape before the entrance became impassable and alerted authorities.

By Wednesday, rescue teams had located five of the trapped villagers, who were reported to be alive and in relatively stable condition but stranded in tight, water-filled passages with limited space to move.

Divers from Laos, Thailand, and other countries have been deployed to assist in the operation, with teams describing the cave as extremely narrow and requiring specialized divers to navigate the conditions. Rescuers have also been using drills and water pumps in an effort to lower water levels and improve access.

Officials said water levels inside the cave have begun to drop, raising cautious optimism as crews continue working to reach everyone still inside.
