At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. FRSC DEPLOYS 30, 000 PERSONNEL FOR EID EL-KABIR The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, says it has deployed 30, 000 personnel nationwide ahead of the 2026 Eid El-Kabir special patrol.  In a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the special operations which started from 25th will end on 31st May, 2026. The special patrol will place particular focus on excessive speed, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, use of phones while driving, operation of mechanically deficient vehicles, driving with expired or worn-out tyres, passenger manifest violations, and other critical offences responsible for fatal road crashes across the country.

 FG Approves 50% Train Fare Discount For Eid-el-Kabir  As Muslim faithful across Nigeria prepare for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Federal Government has announced a 50% reduction in train fares nationwide to ease travel costs during the festive period. Osima Gift Seddon disclosed the gesture in a statement on behalf of the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Transportation. The temporary fare reduction, approved through the Federal Ministry of Transportation, will take effect from Tuesday, May 26, and run until Monday, June 1, 2026. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Funsho Adebiyi, said the initiative is part of government efforts to cushion transportation expenses for Nigerians during the Sallah season, when travel demand is usually high.  Three killed, three injured after overpass under demolition collapses in Seoul Korea A partial collapse of an aging overpass under demolition in Seoul killed three people and injured three others on Tuesday, officials said, in an accident that also disrupted nearby rail service. Sections of the Seosomun Overpass gave way around 2:32 p.m., sending concrete and construction debris crashing to the ground. Two men in their 50s and 60s were initially killed at the scene, and a third victim later died from injuries, bringing the death toll to three. Authorities said 12 workers were deployed to the site, and six were able to evacuate safely before or during the collapse. Train collides with school bus at Belgian crossing, killing 4, including 2 children, and injuring 5 others  Four people, including two children ages 12 and 15, were killed, and five children were seriously injured after a train struck a school bus at a railway crossing in the northern Belgian town of Buggenhout during Tuesday morning rush hour. Authorities said the crossing barriers were down at the time of the collision. Federal police reported that the minibus was carrying seven children, mostly high school-aged students, along with an attendant, and was traveling to a school for students with special educational needs when the crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. local time. A 36-YEAR-OLD MOTHER OF 3 LOST HER LIFE AFTER HER VEHICLE WAS INUNDATED AND SWEPT AWAY BY FLOODING.(PHOTO)

A 36-year-old mother of 3 lost her life after her vehicle was inundated and swept away by flooding. This tragic and heartbreaking  incident was all captured on video. At 3:30 p.m., Rachel Floyd was driving her white SUV down Byrd Boulevard in Petal, Mississippi, when she encountered a flooded area. Rachel attempted to drive through the water, but her SUV was quickly taken by the current. Rachel desperately attempted to escape from the vehicle, while witnesses nearby attempted to give her aid. Sadly, as Rachel was scrambling to get out of her vehicle, the current caused the car to overturn. Emergency crews would find  Rachel deceased near a culvert on the side of Highway 42. Her vehicle was recovered a few hours later. This is a truly heartbreaking story, and our thoughts are with the family of Rachel Floyd. More photos below. 

A 31-YEAR-OLD INDIANA WOMAN IS FACING CHARGES AFTER PASSING OUT DRUNK ON TOP OF HER INFANT SON, RESULTING IN HIS DEATH.(PHOTO).

 A 31-year-old Indiana woman is facing charges after passing out drunk on top of her infant son, resulting in his death. Police in Gary, Indiana, were called to a home on the 1400 block of E. 50th place at 9 a.m. on May 16th. Kendra Slaughter had woken up that morning and discovered her 4-month-old son, Lurant Finely, had blue lips and was unresponsive.  Kendra called her husband, and 911. When officers arrived on the scene, the baby was deceased on the bedroom floor after paramedics had failed to revive him. Kendra told police she had been working on homework when she passed out. However, her boyfriend would tell officers he had pulled the baby out from under Kendra before leaving for work, and the fact that she drank and slept with her baby was a point of contention between the two.  The couple had chosen not to have a crib because they felt it enslaved their baby. Kendra had a BAC of .103 when officers gave her a breathalyzer on scene. There was clear animosity between...

 Congo-Brazzaville to scrap visa requirements for African nationals The Republic of Congo, known as Congo-Brazzaville, is set to join the other African countries that have opened their borders to African nationals without requiring an entry visa, the country’s president said. Denis Sassou Nguesso said that the scrapping of visa requirements to his country will begin next year, in line with his commitment to pan-African ideals. “From Jan. 1, 2027, entry into the Republic of Congo will no longer be subject to a visa for African nationals,” he said to loud applause during celebrations marking the 63rd Africa Day in the capital Brazzaville. A few African countries such as Rwanda, Kenya, Gambia, Seychelles and Ghana have taken a bold step to scrap visa payments for African nationals in a move analysts say demonstrates a new sense of unity across the continent.

 Senegal's President Faye appoints new prime minister to replace Sonko Senegal's President Bassirou Diomaye Faye appointed Ahmadou Al Aminou Lo as Prime Minister, TRT Afrika reported. A former executive of the Central Bank of West African States, Lo is a specialist in economic and financial matters. The presidency emphasises that this appointment aims to strengthen the effectiveness of governance and accelerate ongoing reforms for the benefit of the Senegalese people, within a political context marked by significant economic and institutional challenges. On May 22, President Faye sacked his ally, Ousmane Sonko, who had held the position since April 2024.

Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has paid a get-well visit to two gallant officers of the Agency currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Abuja. The two officers  sustained severe injuries following a violent mob attack on them during a raid on a notorious drug joint in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Friday, 15th May 2026. This followed the conclusion of final arguments by the prosecution and defence, with Justice Emeka Nwite fixing judgment for a date to be communicated to parties.  He said that notices would be issued once the court is ready within 24 hours. In attendance was the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. David Nweze Umahi; the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo Esq, alongside Directors of the Ministry. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration on ongoing infrastructural projects across the country, particularly the Coastal Highway project and other critical road construction initiatives aimed at enhancing national development and connectivity.  EFCC Secures Interim Forfeiture of Town Tavern Lounge, Four-Bedroom Bungalow in Ado-Ekiti The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, has secured the interim forfeiture of a lounge and a four-bedroom bungalow located in Ado-Ekiti. Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court, sitting in Ilorin, while granting the application, held that the Commission had fulfilled all the necessary legal requirements. The interim forfeited properties are: Town Tavern Lounge located at No. 1, Ikere Road, off Florence Court School, Ado-Ekiti, and a four-bedroom bungalow located along Florence Court, Irewolede Estate, Ado-Ekiti.  Troops Arrest 21 Suspected Drug Peddlers in Abia State Market Troops of the 144 Battalion (Rear) under Operation Eastern Sanity have achieved a significant breakthrough with the arrest of 21 suspected illicit drug peddlers at Owaza Mammy Market in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State. The coordinated joint raid was conducted on Tuesday, May 25, 2026, based on credible intelligence reports about the activities of crude oil bunkerers, illegal petroleum dealers, pipeline vandals, and illicit drug traffickers operating within the market and surrounding bushes. According to a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Abia State, Mazinho Attah, the operation was carried out by troops of the 144 Battalion (Rear) in collaboration with personnel of the Nigerian Navy Component and the Nigerian Air Force 511 Quick Response Group.  Kachia ADC Rejects Primary Election Results, Says Materials Were Hijacked, Calls For Authorities’ Intervention The Kachia chapter of the African Democratic Congress has rejected a purported primary election result circulating in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, insisting that no valid primary election was conducted by the party. In a disclaimer issued by the party, the ADC alleged that election materials were hijacked by certain individuals identified as Musa Danladi and Bilal, whom it described as unauthorized and unrecognized by the party. According to the statement, the individuals allegedly produced what the party termed a doctored and fabricated result. The party called on the appropriate authorities to swiftly intervene and reject the alleged fake result in the interest of justice, fairness, and due process. The statement was signed by Comr.
