 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting. HEAD OF U.N IN CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC GAYE,RESIGNS TODAY AFTER SEXUAL HARASSMENT SCANDAL.

            Today wednesday,according to the U.N Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon,said the head of the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Central African Republic has resigned after a fresh round of allegations of sexual abuse and excessive use of force by peacekeepers.''Today i have accepted the resignation of my special representative Mr Babacar Gaye,head of the United Nationd Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central Africa Republic,MINUSCA'.Gaye a general from Senegal,submitted his resignation at Ban's request.The announcement comes after Amnesty International accused MINUSCA peacekeepers of raping a 12 year old girl and killing a boy and his father during an operation in the country's capital of Bangui this month.Ban Ki-Moon said Gaye worked so honourably for many years but he wanted to show a strong example.He plans to brief the U.N security tomorrow thursday.He added that he was convening a special meeting with all U.N envoys,police commissioners and force commander tomorrow thursday to ensure they take appropriate action.Such action would include education and training to prevent crimes but if crimes occur then an immediate and thorough investigation should take place.One more photo below.
