 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo. Foreign Scholarship: First set of the 233 Yobe Youths sponsored by Gov. Mai Mala Buni to study medical & engineering courses at Indian Universities graduated. 


.... The first set graduated from Integral University,  Lucknow, India. 


Recall that in 2020, the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni sponsored about 233 Young people selected across 17 local governments of Yobe to study various medical and engineering courses across various Universities in India.


The breakdown of their courses of study is as follows: 


- 12 beneficiaries - petroleum engineering,

- 12 beneficiaries ~ Civil engineering,

- 20 beneficiaries ~ Radiography,

- 41 beneficiaries ~ Pharmacy,

- 3 beneficiaries ~ gynaecology 

- 17 beneficiaries ~ Lab Science,

- 14 beneficiaries ~ computer sci,

- 5 beneficiaries ~ Electric engineering,

-  83 beneficiaries ~ degrees in nursing all of whom will undergo additional trainings in fields such as Anasthesia, renal dialysis, cardiac care etc.


The Recovery Through Education and Scholarships (#RETES), is Governor Mai Mala #Buni's project aimed at sponsoring and training young men and women to fill critical workforce needs and foster development in our communities.
