 PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE COMMENDS RESILIENCE OF NIGERIAN WORKERS President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio has congratulated Nigerian workers on International Labour Day 2026, praising their resilience, hard work, and patriotism despite economic challenges. In his May Day message, Akpabio described workers as the true heroes of Nigeria’s democracy and the engine of the economy.  Tobi Amusan set new 60m hurdles indoor record


Nigerian Athlete, Tobi Amusan has set a new African women’s indoor record in 60 metres after finishing at 7.75 seconds at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston.

Amusan retired the 7.77 record she had previously established in Kazakhstan at the Astana Indoor Meet in January with her 7.75 seconds run in Boston.

However, despite setting the new record, she came second in Boston, with America’s Tia Jones finishing first in 7.72 seconds and Bahama’s Devynne Chalton finishing third with a time of 7.76 seconds.

Amusan had on January 27 in her opening race of the new athletic season, beaten the 7.82seconds African record set by fellow Nigerian Gloria Alozie.
