 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  Senator Cory Booker Sets Senate Record with 25-Hour Protest Speech


Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey set a new Senate record by delivering a 25-hour, 4-minute speech in protest of President Trump, surpassing the previous 1957 record held by Senator Strom Thurmond. While not a filibuster, Booker's marathon speech disrupted Senate proceedings and highlighted concerns over the country's direction. He read constituent letters, shared stories, and discussed topics ranging from sports to poetry, all while remaining standing and foregoing bathroom breaks.


Booker’s speech symbolized resistance, drawing support from his Democratic colleagues. He also referenced his ancestry, noting both slave-owners and slaves in his lineage, and concluded the speech by attending to physical needs after the lengthy effort.
