 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  Bauchi Gov promises revival of 'comatose' infectious diseases hospital



Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed says he is unhappy with  the poor state of the age-long Bayara Infectious Disease Centre, which he described as comatose. 


The governor made the comments during an unexpected inspection visit to the Bayara healthcare facility located on the outskirts of Bauchi metropolis


Established more than sixty years ago Bayara Hospital, was once a premier centre for managing infectious diseases, such as leprosy, tuberculosis and cholera.


The hospital played  a significant and historic role in epidemic control and health training in Northern Nigeria. 


Decades of neglect have left it in decline, making its planned revival a major step in preserving both healthcare delivery, and heritage for Bauchi State and Northern Nigeria.


Governor Mohammed said this was why he decided on the inspection visit, to assess the facility's dilapidated state, and plan for speedy intervention 


In a related development, Governor Bala Mohammed also promised to provide a specialist hospital in the state saying  since the state handed over its former Specialist Hospital to the Federal Government, which is now functioning as a teaching hospital, the metropolis has been lacking a functional general hospital. 


He promised that these and other facilities would be built in the not-so-distant future 


He said the state government has the resources and promised  delivery before 2027.
