According to an interview with Channels Television, Chief Abayomi Arabambi, a chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), has criticized Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, alleging that his style of governance would have been too regional if he had emerged president.
Arabambi claimed that Obi’s appointments would have been largely restricted to individuals from Anambra and Imo states, rather than reflecting the diversity of Nigeria.
“If Obi had become president, he would have appointed ministers only from Anambra and Imo,” he asserted, stressing that such a narrow approach would have undermined national unity and inclusiveness.
The LP chieftain further accused Obi of lacking the political structure and vision required to lead the country effectively, insisting that the former Anambra governor is more focused on personal ambition than building a truly national movement.
His remarks have stirred reactions within the political space, highlighting ongoing rifts in the Labour Party following the last general election.
