AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk.  Juventus fires coach Igor Tudor following three consecutive losses

Juventus dismissed coach Igor Tudor on Monday following a run of three consecutive defeats and an eight-match winless streak.

The team has not won since September 13, with the announcement coming a day after a 1-0 loss to Lazio, marking Juventus’ fourth straight game without scoring. The club currently sits eighth in Serie A, six points behind joint leaders Napoli and Roma, and three points behind fourth-place Inter Milan. In the Champions League, Juventus has earned just two points from three matches.

Juventus confirmed that reserve team coach Massimo Brambilla will take temporary charge, including for Wednesday’s home fixture against Udinese. The club said, “Juventus announces that it has today relieved Igor Tudor of his duties as head coach of the men’s first team, along with his staff consisting of Ivan Javorcic, Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci. The club thanks Igor Tudor and his entire staff for their professionalism and dedication over the past few months and wishes them all the best for their future careers.”

Tudor, 47, was appointed in March to replace Thiago Motta and initially signed a contract through the end of the season, including the Club World Cup in the United States. In June, he was confirmed to stay on after leading Juventus to fourth place in Serie A, securing a Champions League spot with five wins in nine games.

A former Juventus player from 1998 to 2007, Tudor previously managed Udinese, Hellas Verona, and Lazio. He also served as an assistant to Andrea Pirlo at Juventus in 2020-21 before both were let go at the season’s end.
