Venezuela’s first liquefied petroleum gas shipment heads to U.S

Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, announced on Sunday that the country’s first shipment of liquefied petroleum gas has been exported. In a post on her Telegram channel, Rodriguez said the Singapore-flagged ship, Chrysopigi Lady, departed from a northern Venezuelan port on the evening of Feb. 1 and is scheduled to arrive in Providence, Rhode Island. “Proud to share this moment: the vessel Chrysopigi Lady has set sail from Venezuela with the first shipment of Liquefied Petroleum Gas,” she wrote, calling it a historic milestone for the country and its people.

Rodriguez assumed the role of interim president following the capture of former President Nicolas Maduro in a U.S. military operation in January. Since taking office, she has faced the dual challenges of managing domestic stability while navigating diplomatic relations with the United States. Last week, Rodriguez emphasized Venezuela’s willingness to engage in political dialogue but warned against outside interference, praising those who resisted the January 3 operation. Venezuelan officials reported that roughly 100 people were killed during the military action, including 32 Cuban security personnel, as the country continues to deal with the aftermath of the event.
