 OBINABO FINALLY APPREHENDS 40 YEAR OLD RAPE SUSPECT IN ONITSHA AFTER SEVERAL FAILED ATTEMPTS By Chidinma Ikeanyionwu The Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Hon Ify Obinabo, has finally apprehended a 40 year old rape suspect, Anietie Tim, in Onitsha after several failed attempts. This she was able to achieve through a radio presenter resident in Onitsha Francis Pember, who volunteered to help after he was intimated of the incident. The suspect, Anietie Tim, from Eninan AkwaIbom in his defense said he never knew his victim was an under age and went further to say that she was the one that tempted him and he responded because he's a man with blood flowing through his veins. Mr Tim also explained that before the incident, he was already befriending his 14 Year old victim, who, according to him, was always starved at home.  ICPC Signs MOU With FIRS  The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN has assured the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) that the Commission will assist the agency to tackle cases of tax evasion and financial crime in the revenue generating sector of the country. The ICPC Boss gave the assurance at the signing of the  Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Commission ‘s headquarters.  The ICPC Chairman emphasized the importance of strategic partnership in the fight against corruption.  Okuama Killings: Military Frees Traditional Ruler Of Ewu Kingdom Clement Oghenerukvwe, the traditional ruler of the Ewu kingdom who surrendered himself in the course of investigations into the killings of 17 military officers in Okuoma, Delta State, has been released by the Nigerian Army. At a brief ceremony at the Nigerian Army Headquarters in Abuja, the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, handed him over to the Senator representing Delta Central, Ede Dafinone. General Nwachukwu explained that the Army has painstakingly reviewed every available information on the incident, and has come to the preliminary observation, that while the culpability has not conclusively established anything against the traditional ruler, there is insufficient evidence to exonerate anyone at this stage.  Minister test runs e-gates at Airports Minister of Interior Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on Friday test ran the electronic gates (e-gates) mounted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja,  asserting the job is 99 percent done. The e-gates, he said, would be deployed for operations by next week.  Tunji-Ojo was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry,  Dr Aishetu Ndayako and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap among other top government officials.  He said the e-gates were being deployed to eliminate human interfaces, reduce bureaucracy and make movements of passengers in and out the country seamless.  APC asks police to arrest impostors who suspended Ganduje The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the police to investigate and apprehend nine persons behind the controversial suspension of its National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje  for “impersonation and  dissemination of false information.” The  request is contained in a two-page letter  by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana.  Police Arrest Driver for Negligent Act Police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have apprehended a driver for cramming 15 children into a Volkswagen Passat car in Lagos. The vehicle was reported by concerned citizens on the Lekki–Ikoyi Link Bridge at about 8pm on Sunday. Upon intervention, the police noticed that the driver, who had been contracted to transport the children to a beach, had locked four of the children in the car trunk while 11 others were crammed together. Preliminary investigations revealed that one child had collapsed earlier in the day due to similar transportation conditions but recovered after receiving medical attention. The children have since been released to their parents unhurt.
