 Corey Feldman hospitalized after mid-flight medical emergency at LAX  Actor Corey Feldman was hospitalized after experiencing a medical emergency during a flight and being taken directly from Los Angeles International Airport to a hospital, according to his publicist. The 54-year-old actor reportedly became ill while traveling from Chicago to Los Angeles on Monday. A doctor on board evaluated him during the flight before he was met upon arrival and transported for further treatment. He remained in the hospital overnight for observation. Early speculation suggested the issue could be related to gallstones, but his publicist said that possibility was ruled out by medical staff. Feldman was still undergoing evaluation and awaiting MRI results as of Tuesday morning.  Kaduna Assembly begins El-Rufai’s probe, request transactions records Kaduna State House of Assembly has requested the state’s Ministry of Finance to submit details of all financial transactions under the former governor Nasir El-Rufai. He governed the state between 2015 and 2023. The Assembly made the request in connection with the ongoing investigation of all finances, loans and projects awarded under the ex-governor’s two term administration. Governor Uba Sani recently raised the alarm that his predecessor, El-Rufai left a huge debt burden for him in the office. Sani, who spoke during a town hall meeting in Kaduna, lamented that he could not pay workers’ salaries as he only inherited a lean treasury.  Again, two Wike loyalists quit Fubara’s cabinet over redeployment Issac Kamalum, a loyalist of Nyesom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory, who is a member of Governor Similanayi Fubara’s cabinet, has resigned.   Kamalu, who was the Commissioner for Finance, was affected by a minor cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday. He was moved to the ministry of employment and economic generation. Professor Zacchus Adangor, also a Wike loyalist, was relieved of his duties as Attorney-General and Justice Commissioner and given a new role in the the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office).  Stop misusing ex parte order, Akpabio warns judges Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday called on judges to stop the misuse of ex parte orders, especially in political cases.   Akpabio said this in a speech entitled, “Repositioning the Justice System, Constitutional, Statutory and Operational Reforms for Access and Efficiency” at the National Summit on Justice in Abuja. He said it was imperative for the National Judicial Council (NJC) to exercise stringent oversight to curb the misuse of ex parte order. “We recommend prompt and decisive punishment for erring judges who are found to be involved in this abuse. “We further propose that the NJC establish clear and detailed standards governing the issuance of ex parte orders, accompanied by a defined set of sanctions for violations.  Naira depreciates to N1,305/$ in parallel market The Naira yesterday depreciated to N1,305 per dollar in the parallel market, from N1,255 per dollar on Tuesday. Similarly, the Naira depreciated in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, NAFEM, to N1,308.52 per dollar. Data from FMDQ showed that the indicative exchange rate for NAFEM rose to N1,308.52 per dollar from N1,300.15 per dollar on Tuesday, indicating N8.37 depreciation for the naira. Consequently, the margin between the parallel market and NAFEM rates narrowed to N3.52 per dollar from N45.15 per dollar the previous day.

 EFCC Hands over 14 Forfeited Properties to Enugu State The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 handed over 14 properties initially forfeited to the Federal government and now ceded to the government and people of Enugu State. The transfer of the properties to Enugu State governor, Dr Peter Mba was performed by the Executive Chairman of EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede at the corporate headquarters of the Commission. Speaking before the brief handover ceremony, Olukoyede who disclosed that the road to the forfeiture dated back to 2007, stated that event spoke of the mutually beneficial relationship existing between the federal government and states. “What we are witnessing today testifies to a symbiotic relationship that should exist between the federal government and the state governments.
