 Otti approves Christmas bonus for Abia monarchs Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has approved the sum of N81.6 m as a Christmas bonus for the state’s 544 traditional rulers. The gesture was disclosed in a statement by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu. He said, “His Excellency, Dr. Alex C. Otti has graciously approved the sum of N150,000  to each of the 544 Abia traditional rulers as Christmas bonus. “His Excellency equally uses this opportunity to enjoin Abia traditional rulers to continue to partner with the government of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti in order to engender development, peace, and security of lives and properties within their various communities. Charcoal and firewood were used by mostly the locals and people living in semi-urban areas before the advent of cooking gas. However, when cooking gas came into the picture, these other primitive fuels were relegated to the background because the difference between them, particularly on ease of use, was like day and night. Now, it appears ease of use is no longer considered when people can no longer afford the cooking gas. And so, a return to the cheaper option takes pre-eminence.  Mother, two children killed as arsonists set family ablaze in Lagos A 22-year-old fashion designer, Eniola Oduse and her two children, four-year-old Eri and two-year-old Onoara, have been burnt to death after suspected arsonists set their home ablaze at the Ita Marun community in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State. The deceased’s husband, Kehinde, 25, who was also caught up in the fire, is currently battling for his life in an undisclosed hospital. On Sunday that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, November 26.  Ogun man arrested for raping, attacking neigbour with grinding stone A man named Michael Akinmolayan has been arrested for allegedly raping a female neighbour in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State. PUNCH Metro gathered on Saturday that during the incident on Thursday, Akinmolayan allegedly struck the survivor on the crown of her head with a grinding stone, causing severe injuries. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident on Saturday, stating that officers from the Sango-Ota Division swiftly responded to the scene after receiving a report and took Akinmolayan into custody.
